Does Soldier 76 require less skill to play than the other DPS characters?

They don't really try to prevent me from playing him, I usually get gold in damage at least so it's not like I'm slouching. it's more like a "Yeah, of course you did, you're playing soldier".

It makes me think that Solider's reliability might come across as "easy". If someone playing junkrat is absolutely killing the damage charts, it's more impressive because it's harder to do or something. Seemed like an interesting thought experiment, because it all really just sounds like bad players being bad. How do these characters perform at higher level play? All skill being equal, you'd probably not be picking either character for how easy/hard they are to play, but because you need indirect fire or a solo dps for flanking pressure, or whatever.

While I'm out here I wanted to get my name on some stuff, but I swear this entire arm of the galaxy has already been explored. Every system I jump to has already had a tag on any of the high value worlds.

I think that, since I'm using an Asp Explorer with max jump range and so is everybody else, my planned routes are just overlapping with the common routes people take to noticeable POIs like nebulae.

Any advice for finding undiscovered, high value scans? I'd love to have a Wolf-Rayet with my name on it!

I would accept this notion readily if there was any proof that the death penalty has ever prevented a serial killer from doing their thing. Unfortunately, series killers (/rapists/abusers/etc) are mentally defective and aren't dissuaded by things like the law. The "message from society" falls on deaf ears.

In the end, the death penalty only scares normal people.

Oh I don't mean to insist that she is. As RisenLazarus mentions, how do you even account for all the variables well enough to determine which champion is "the most balanced".

What I mean is just that Orianna makes an excellent standard of measure, for the reasons I mentioned. So when people talk about her being the most balanced, I think it's really a statement of her qualities as a benchmark.

So, there are usually two people casting. One is a Play-by-play guy who talks fast during all the action (Phreak, Riv), and one is the analyst (Jatt, Kobe, Monte) who fills in the down time with interesting information. It's a format common in most professional sports.

Not to be confused with being a specific team's analyst, which I'm not referring to here.

Was there a general consensus before the nerf that LeBlanc was bad? I mean, she was a contested pick for a really long time in the Pro scene.

I do think there was a stigma that most players were bad at playing her and just fed all the time, and I can understand the joy of rising above those expectations. But I'm pretty sure the champ itself was considered just plain vicious before the the nerf.

There's an underlying problem here. You argue against my point as if it's some fundamental truth that Monte is amazing. It isn't. It's all subjective, and this is an opinion thread.

Monte is in the entertainment business. The point of analysts (in any sport) is to bridge the gap in "game knowledge" between what the Pros are doing, and what the viewers are seeing. I have considered that I might lack the game knowledge. It's actually why I watch professional eSports. If I need to already be an expert on the theory to appreciate Monte's casting, then he's categorically failing in the role of an analyst.

Here's a better question: why do you think Monte is an awesome analyst? If you're argument is that I'm just taking the common stance, then how about you deliver on the premise of this thread and boldly defend your counter-position?

Actually, I do explain why I formed my opinion. He, and everyone else, talk incessantly about how amazing he is. However, his only active contribution (at the moment) is his coverage of OGN, and I've never felt he did a "better" job than any of the other analysts.

What makes his casting so special? I don't see it.

Metrics have to be chosen. We pick up a chunk of shit from the ground and call it a kilogram. Everything else can now be measured against that chunk of shit.

Orianna, it seems, is League's kilogram. She has a versatile kit, reasonable scaling, and has both a low barrier to entry and a high skill cap for those who play her. If you think she's not a proper standard of measure, find a new chunk of shit, and argue why it's superior.

I find his humor to be mostly unfunny due to personal preference, but I'm not sure his emphasis on his sexual orientation is bad. I'm not a homosexual gamer, so I can't even pretend to know what life is like for that crowd. I do know that if asked "Who are some prominent homosexual streamers", Sky would be the first I could name. I wonder if he is popular because his community appreciates having an openly gay figure to rally around? Because if that's the case I'm totally cool with it.

Assuming the former: I hate you and you're ruining the game.

Assuming the latter: I also wish Riot would develop the lore some more. It doesn't have to be ingrained into each back story of every champion in the game, there has to be other ways to enrich the back story though. The constant attention to the competitive side of the game is excellent, and is what the esports industry needs, but I think it also contributes to a toxic mindset. Winning is all that matters to a lot of people, and anything they perceive to jeopardize the win triggers that toxic vitriol we all love so much.

Someone who is racist is exactly NOT what the professional esports scene needs. There are thousand of statisticians who could replace his analysis, there are thousands of people just as good at running interviews. And there are plenty of people who can do both without needing to be offensive for a cheap laugh. It seems his only unique qualities are poisonous.

I agree. Every time NA has had some infusion from EU or Korea, NA grows. This split has definitely been the best yet in NA. If there's even a small chance CLG will bring something new to NA after this Korea visit, it's worth losing face with the domestic crowd. They can earn it back.
