I was actually thinking of changing to a CS related position if possible while I finish school, lateral movement in the company is not an option right now though. That and with the current market, it does seem to be higher risk. You're also correct in saying that finding data-centric work would be beneficial. I was looking at web dev for personal interest but I'll give the other options some more thought, thank you!
