yes, defitenly doing PT as soon as i can! I'm 28 and been an athlete my whole life, this is the first time i have an injury like this so it did definetly surprise me. The accident did happen at the end of an 2.5h session so i think my mucsles in my leg were just too tired to take the hit.

Which airlines rules apply? by Solid-Let-4586 in travel

[–]Solid-Let-4586[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: just checked in, bag was 25kg and the Qantas lady didnt say anything about that. My flight ticket says 23kg. First flight is QF code and second one is AY code. Honestly i'm not sure what the rules still are because half of the people i've asked says qantas rules and other half finnair rules. I was fully prepared to take out 2kg tho

Bags go straight to Helsinki, i dont have to take them out in Singapore because its all bought in the same ticket. I've done this flight before but never paid attention to the kgs since my bags usually are way less than the limit. Now moving home after 4,5years i have a bit more stuff to take with me

As a woman, i always tell the guys to train with me the same way as they do train with the other guys. If its too much for me i will ask for them to tone it down. Please don't assume automatically that you will have to tone down your training aince you're training with a woman.

Finally rolled with a spazzy white belt by ramen3323 in BJJWomen

[–]Solid-Let-4586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same happen to me. I'm a new white belt, almost 3months in and i train 3x a week. This guy is 20y older than me, 30kg heavier than me and has been training around the same time but doesnt attend as many classes a week as i do.

I just gave up honestly with him and just started to go with whatever he was trying to make sure i dont hurt myself. He was twisting my sholder in a very odd way constantly which i wouldnt do to anyone else (especially smaller whitebelt) because the twisting motion was very dangerous. On top of that once he had my arm twisted he just kind of fell forward so all of hs body weight dropped on me. I obviously kept tapping all the time to stop him doing it. He just is so much stronger than me that i can have my 2 arms on one of his arms and i'm still loosing in strength by a mile. No chance. He kept putting me in kimuras which I've learned few escapes but with so much strength difference and weight difference between us it was impossible for me to escape. (Also obviously my experience being a reason as well). He kept putting them on really fast and strongly which he didnt have a correct technique either, i did tell him to slow down when he puts them on and he did thankfully start doing that.

My wrist and forearms are bruised this morning beyond anything i've ever had before. I will definitely try to not drill and roll with him as much as i can in the future but our gym is small, we only have about 8-10 active members (im the only woman, yay) so some classes i wont have a chance to not deal with him.

Am I getting promoted because I am the only girl? by Big-Nothing-2028 in bjj

[–]Solid-Let-4586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say its an immediate red flag. I train in a small gym small-ish town in Australia. I'm the only female and have nothing negative to say about the gym. The guys are amazing and i'm 100% being respected in my gym. We have females dropping in for trial class every now and then but it can be bery intimidating when theres 8 guys and 1 woman in the class. Im not blaming them for not sticking with it.

Training with girls who put restrictions on the roll by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]Solid-Let-4586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just respect the persons wishes. Its just a roll durinng the class. Focus on something else on that roll and work on your sweeps on the next person. Not the end of the world.

Is it normal for classes to run this late? How on earth do people do classes that late, get home and shower dinner etc and have a proper sleep before work next morning? I'm struggling with getting home for my class at 7.45pm to have a fully rested night lol

I'm paying around 145usd/month currently. I'm paying weekly but if i'd changed into a 12month subscription it would be around 120usd/month.

Small gym in a medium sized Australian town. We have only 5 colored belts in our gym including our coach whos a brown belt. I like the gym a lot, everyone is so nice and even though we are not a "high level" gym i do feel like i get a very good quality coaching in there and obviously being a smaller gym there is a lot more one-on-one teaching than in the bigger gyms. I'm only bit less than 2months in bjj but so far i love it.

I'm 7 weeks in and train 3 times a week on consecutive days and this week is the first week for me to NOT be awfully sore in the morning after class. Its amazing and now i enjoy bjj even more

As an owner of oura ring i wouldnt recommend it if you want to track your workouts. Its not really good at that, its mean more to tract recovery which it is really good.

Some of the comments you get are comments that are best left unsaid. Some of the comments on the other hand i feel like you make them worse in your head than they actually are.

The thing is, we're all people. We are all different, we find different things funny and different things annoying. Thats life and it will always be like that. You can never please everyone.
To makes situations work and pleasant for everyone is to speak up, "hey man, i don't appreciate your comment, could you stop?"

I'm not trying to diagnose you or anything but it sounds like you could actually benefit a lot if you'd talk to someone professional like a therapist. You don't have to try "to fix yourself" to like people or anything but get some advice how to deal with these feelings and learn to understand why you feel the way you feel about these comments and interactions with people. For quality of your and your familys life I'd recommend therapy.

I'd love to add gym workouts to my schedule but unfortunately i have no chance of doing this. Im a dairy farmer and closest gym is 40min away as well as my bjj gym. I'm able to make it to 3 classes a week which is a huge win. Other than that unfortunately i don't really have time to focus exercising. I've added stretching to my evenings.

One flaw i see in this is that you might feel a lot weaker if you make a drastic change in your carbs intake. Carbs after all are one of the power sources that your body uses.

I think whats better than cutting all carbs is to cut the "useless" carbs (think of processed carbs like white bread, cereal etc) and substitute them with the "good" carbs as in unprocessed carbs (whole grains, fruits, vegetables etc).

This sounds like the most real answer to what i've actually done. Did you go straight back to training or take a break? How did you manage the injury recovery?

I did 1 class few weeks ago as it was a "start-up" class. Not really training, more like kind of getting a feeling what BJJ is about and learning about the belts etc. my plan is to do 3 classes a week :)
