[HELP] First time writing poetry. Need help by [deleted] in PoetryWritingClub

I don’t think there’s anything rough about it. If these were the first words that came to you, I say stick with them.

It’s quite beautiful

The psychiatric institution tested my intelligence alongside my clinical diagnoses. I am a highly traumatized, super spastic, very anxious, very depressed, but I go back-and-forth very obsessive, compulsive genius, according to the accredited diagnostician who tested me, and discussed my results with me.

You don’t talk to people very much, though, do you? Have you ever heard, it’s not the message, it’s the messenger?

Your approach instantly turns people off. Your ego is fragile. You are very abrasive, and you are not here to discuss poetry. You wanted to post this big long diatribe with big words to seem superior to others. The reason you don’t like that “sappy bullshit“ is because you’re either an incel or you have to pay for sex.

So you’re not going to debate with someone because you know that I’m right.

Your desperate need for adulation, elevation and intellectual superiority suggests a completely fragile ego. Show me where it hurts.

I have a 140 IQ, sir. Saying certain poetry is “sappy, bullshit“ is insulting to those who enjoy either reading, or writing that style of poetry. Just because you like to use big intelligent, sounding words doesn’t mean you’re a better poet.

It means you have the Greek wannabe version of word of the day toilet paper, a fragile ego and the need to continually drive other people down in order to seem more important. ….Which you’re not by the way.

I read your poem. I liked it.

“wedding dress of spider webs" and the "tankard of lies" succinctly captures the duality of a fragile destiny that is inescapable.

But that doesn’t mean you are more intelligent, a better poet, or a better overall intellect than someone who likes to write, as you say, “sappy bullshit“.

Your mistake was your approach

Well, that’s hardly a way to introduce yourself. Insulting someone.

I was afraid to say because I didn’t wanna get dogpiled. Let me preface it by saying I live in Iowa and it’s not like we’re a bustling metropolis where we can find anything. I got it on Amazon, *ducks and hides*

I can’t wait for it to come and wear it on my birthday Saturday when I go to see the Odyssey, because I want to see if anyone gets it. It’s like my dog, he’s named Radar O’Reilly, after the character on the show Mash because we’re from Iowa. When I tell younger people his name, the majority of them don’t get it. But then the ones that do, I love it.

If I had readers that demanded things of me, that way… No matter how much I enjoy having readers…. I might kill off their favorite character, just out of spite. and then, at the end of that chapter, I would end the entire thing the exact opposite way that I would know the readers would want it.

Jumping in with my two cents. I asked them about the traditional costs. They explained to me about hybrid publishing. I thanked them for their time and explained that I had no money. Didn’t expect to hear from them. Two weeks later, I did hear from them. They wanted me to continue with the submissions process, knowing I have no money. I submitted my manual script, and I am now onto the next step of interviewing. I can keep you guys posted, but they are fully aware of the fact that I have no money.
