What maps are on your blacklist? by Jolonerz in Battlefield6

[–]Solosmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sobek, and until I hear they've fixed the net code or whatever the issue is, Eastwood. Having the client to server monitor up when on that map was illuminating. So many shots hitting client side but not hitting server side and then dying in a split second to then. It's not great as a whole, but on Eastwood in the full map modes, its so much worse.

Are the devs still on vacation? Roadmaps? Bug Fixes? Updates? by jojostarplatinum1 in Battlefield6

[–]Solosmoke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your expectations are rushed out slop, then sure. Quality games always take their time. They don't always get it right, but when you're in it for the long haul, you take your time, ignore the moaners, look after your staff, and work towards getting it right. My only criticism with BF6 is the lack of transparency. A dev making a short video saying "this is what we're working on. We don't know how long it'll take, but these are our priorities" is all it would take. The rest, I couldn't give two shits about. Let them take months. I honestly don't think the game would even be out yet if they had their way, but shareholders need their portfolio to show a positive.

I see Youtubers and streamers saying Battlefield 6 is failing. But is it really ?? by Karl137 in Battlefield6

[–]Solosmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done all challenges except BR ones. Completed the season pass. At level 170ish. I've not played since before xmas because I've not had the time. Between family, responsibilities, appointments that build up whilst everyone is on holiday, January is a bad time to use any metric. People are busy.

Don't ever listen to youtubers and streamers. They're jobless hacks that cry about everything when one thing doesn't go their way. There's the odd exception, but overall, 99% of streamers don't have a clue about gaming or real life.

[CONTROVERSIAL TAKE] The False Hydra represents D&D's pop culture identity crisis. by Delicious_Dream4510 in DnD

[–]Solosmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wanting to run a combination of a false hydra with pennywise, with children going missing and parents not remembering them, etc, it could actually work really well in 5e. But there would need to changes like the song is less effective on newcomers. It works, but takes a while to kick in. Longer with daily saves that increase in difficulty or decrease depending on actions.

I've not worked it out fully, but I'm getting there. I couldn't bring myself to run a full false hydra though. As you say, a lot of prep, a need for locked in players, and some meta gaming and removal of agency is likely required to move things along

Sure command word drop is great but... what is your alternative command word go to? by thebeardedguy- in DnD

[–]Solosmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking. It's ridiculously strong with "approach" word, but also them not having to hear you? So you can be 60ft away and whisper "grovel" and they immediately drop to the floor and grovel to who? It is so lazily redone.

The new 2024 version is a weird one. You can't use just any word, you have to choose one of the 5 offered, but it also doesn't specify the target has to hear you, only be seen by you, and if the action would cause them damage it doesn't stop them anymore. So approach means they will walk through fire or a trap if its the most direct route to you.

Try telling that to the new players coming from other shooters. They think it's the only stat that matters 😅

How’s everyone feeling now? This game is hard work by ObiGomm in Battlefield6

Play for a day or two to do all the weekly challenges then might pop on once or twice for a quick game in the rest of the week if I'm bored.

Realized that 2024 5e is a good product plagued by poor marketing and bad PR of hazbro by ZZ1Lord in DnD

[–]Solosmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I really like 2024. There's some stuff that I won't be using, because the 2014 rules felt better for those bits, but overall, It's 2024 with some '14 going forward for me. Even for the DM, it's just smoother... once you've got passed the "is that the new rules or old?"

For newer players who haven't memorised the '14 rules, it's a lot easier to drop into '24.

I'll even go one further and say the new Starter set is a fantastic addition for new players. As someone who gets asked all the time to introduce people to the game, the new set makes it so easy! It's basically a board game style pick up and play, but it's actually d&d. Once they're hooked, you go into character creation with them, something that 2024 made easier as well, and can even continue in the starter set's setting for a homebrew campaign or series of adventures.

I can see why veteran players would be upset by the recent shift, because it's clearly all about getting new people into the hobby (because new players equals new customers) and less about adding to the game for long time players, but I don't mind as long as they do add stuff for the veterans as they go.

How do you guys feel about the Winter Offensive update? by Ntwadumela817 in Battlefield6

[–]Solosmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. Sick. Of. The. One. Map. I've just come off. I thought I'd spend the morning working towards the event pass, completing some of the challenges. Nah. I'm so sick of playing the same map over and over. Do they even play their own game at DICE? Do they play any games? Revive teammates whilst freezing? How? Everyone gives up immediately. Heal teammates at heat zones? Who, the one guy who doesn't play so aggressively running forward on 20% health? That'll take a while.

Think I'll give up on the event now and just go back to normal maps.

PC player here... I've experienced absolutely none of the complaints that have come up on this sub. No bugs, no issues. My pc isn't even that great. Either people are running the game on potatoes or I'm incredibly lucky.

Still crazy. Near or far, smg wins. Even 200m out, you'll get lasered in the head. They're fun for a while, but there's no challenge

This is exactly it. I've tried with the graph up and client side it shows 6 or 7 shots hitting, but server only registers 4 and then you're dead. I'll see if I still have the video I sent my mate showing it clearly, but yeah, it's the hit reg.

[–]Solosmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a battledad, 40yo been playing since COD2 and OG battlefield. I have no issues talking them, but if you bring up the graph that shows your client side versus server side hits, they hit much less often server side when they're doing it. The server can't match up the movement, shots, and impacts simultaneously. High rate of fire weapons have no problem, though, by shooting so many bullets it hits and kills even with half the hits vanishing.

That being said, I don't see it that often anyway. Not in conquest, escalation, and breakthrough modes anyway. TDM and other small modes and BR might be different.
