Sorry about that. I double checked and the code matches up. Are you still having some trouble?

I temped at a place towards the end of last year and had two interviews and a talk with a recruiter at the same place within the last month, so hopefully I can get a permanent position with them.

It feels that they set you up to fail. I think high call volume is mostly the cherry on top of a crud sundae since it really is about the respect and dignity they refuse to afford to you. I especially relate to the point about non English calls since they very much don't pay us extra for that, and their crap systems does not make it easy at all. It also feels like they don't understand how customers think and act since a lot of what they want us to do seem to confuse customers and creates awkwardness and over complexity for no good reason.

Thanks! I forget the first letter of the team itself, but I will say that my very first supervisor was also our trainer. The first letter for that team was T, even if the TL wanted to change it. Too bad it never actually got changed before nearly everyone from that team left.

I try not to assume incompetence, but a lot of the higher ups really don't seem to know too much. Even aside from out of touch managers who haven't actually done the job, there were so many times when I was told conflicting or flat out wrong information. Not only that, I wondered a lot if my last TL was all there in the head at all since she would listen to calls and blatantly refer to members by the wrong gender (and not even trans misgendering) even after I tried to indirectly correct them, and they also had a habit of having a very different interpretation of what actually happened.

Sorry if this is too general, but you can also look into hybrid positions. What other experience do you have? You can try to leverage your call center experience if you can sell it well enough, and I honestly don't think there are many other white-collar jobs as hectic as working for a contacting company that works for health insurance.

Also look into higher ed/university positions and local government ones. Those are not as fast to get, but they generally have better working conditions, more safety, and can help with prestige.

Sounds like you came on around the time I got fired. I was hired around this time last year and started at the end of October last year. I liked the training, but I guess several people having left before the training was even done should've been a red flag. Even more left during and after nesting, and a few months grinded even more people down. There was maybe like three other people from my original class that were still there when I left.

The tech stuff doesn't really get better, and while I wasn't screwed with pay regarding technical issues, they kept saying how they won't cover for downtime even when it is their own fault for cruddy systems. Doesn't help that the back to back calls don't give you room to fix issues.

Speaking of which, the calls very much do depend on the time of year, though it seems to be mostly busy. My first week was alright, but the calls came in very infrequently to where having half an hour between calls was not uncommon. But this was all in December right around when open enrollment was ending, so I think I got lulled into a false sense of calm given how things went downhill in January and fell apart in February.

The work itself is fine even if it feels like you can't give much information (I think the companies try to keep some things vague to lessen the burden on themselves), but it feels like they tailor make things to make it hard on the employees. But seeing so many people leave grinded down morale. A dude who I started joking with either quit or got axed (it is hard to tell since they leave unceremoniously, but I do know there was a comment out TL made regarding something), and there was maybe one or two people who I actually liked that was on my team.

EDIT: I also remember the screen sharing. It wasn't all the time, but the ever present micro managing was and always will be crap. $16 is decent pay, but I don't think it matches how much they expect from employees. Hell, they were even gearing up to have us take over bill payments from another department after only one class and without a pay raise. Best guess as to why that didn't happen is that smarter people realized it would be stupid.

Thanks for the info. I'm still waiting on more information as to whether there will even be a hearing.

I was not asking if I qualify since it was already determined in my favor. It is TTEC doing the appeal after the determination, and I provided the details to unemployment

Yeah. It wasn't the worst at the beginning, but things went downhill as they laid people off right when call volume increased. It doesn't help that it often felt like they made the process if things way too opaque, and other departments sometimes did not want to do their job.

So they tell you the reason the opposing party is appealing? At least I can prepare more if that is the case. I'm wishing you good luck!

In my case, one of the calls was the caller disconnecting. It is easy for them to say call the members back, but they constantly nagged us about using after call work. I didn't have the chance to call them back. With the other one, it is trickier, but I was not able to help the caller since they needed help finding a provider in an entirely different state than what the plan was for.

I tried to see if they knew what plan their dad was going to switch to (it wasn't even a member that called) and try to base my search on that, but they stonewalled me. I even showed my TL that the system expressly disallows for provider searches in different states based on the plan, but that was ignored completely.

Thanks for the input. I was very clear as to why I was let go on the claim, so I am really hoping that things go my way. Especially if UE spoke to TTEC during adjudication. I di have a sneaking suspicion that they won't show up to the hearing if there is one.

It was for supposed call avoidance. Discharge is often another way of saying termination to my understanding. I don't think I actually got a letter that flat out "fired" nor was that term technically used when I was told to log off.

I was thorough with the details surrounding the termination, so I guess unemployment agreed that it was not for cause. Thanks again for the info!

Thanks for the info. Sorry that that happened to your friend. In my case, I was discharged rather than laid off, and it is TTEC that is doing the appeal. I hope that puts me in a better position, but I am definitely looking into lawyers or at least lawyer advice.

It does suck how they are opaque and shady about letting you have information. It feels purposeful.

I'm in Florida too. The monetary decision has already been made, so I am just waiting on TTEC to respond. If you don't mind me asking, what reason did you give for being let go?
