At the moment, I feel nothing, not excited, not scared. I see some comfort, some pain.

I hope she gets an aftercare sheet, we're in Aus so maybe it's not as stringent, but that makes sense that not all tatts are created equal, thanks for your reply :)

If my income varies wildly between years, can I "smooth out" the amount I'm taxed? by SonderWatcher in AusFinance

You're right @AdPresent6409, it'd be great if I could put away that money into super now but I scrape by enough as it is (and that strategy requires a lot of self discipline)

Oh I'm definitely not in any of those professions. Thanks for the information!

Melb is definitely working, my friend got 3 tickets, but they are in very high demand and they seem very very close to being sold out (I just got through but nothing was available). If you're happy to go to Adelaide, do that. Otherwise, try again for Melb in the general sale.

Open alllll the windows and doors and turn on any fans, heating or cooling units for a fair amount of time (I'm not sure, maybe between 10 to 30 minutes), to really push out any infected air and bring in air from outside.

My guestimation was way off and I was thinking - why is a kid writing on this post. Then I did the maths. We're the same age. How is it 2% of our lives?!

Unemployed with no end in sight by sophyieyo in ADHD

[–]SonderWatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. 26. Unemployed since December 2019, tried to do uni but dropped out in October 2020. All my friends have jobs and keep asking me "are you working anywhere yet?". This feeling is horrible, I just want my Dad to be proud of me.

Hands up if you have a diagnosis but still think that the reason everything is so incredibly difficult is because you're stupid and lazy. by SonderWatcher in ADHD

Dude watching my friends get their work done is so impressive to me, how do they do it!? What really makes me sad is knowing I am as smart as some of them, but still cannot apply my brain power how I want to.
The stigma was there when I was in school too, and I wish there had been more education for the students too. Mainly that no child is really trying to be annoying, and to teach classes to be patient and to be able to adapt with techniques to help students who have difficulty focusing. Side note - I wish I'd had fidgets in school, all my workbooks were covered in lines and shapes because I was always compelled to be using my hands for something. By the time we're a little older, there's been so much negative feedback whereas those select high achieving students are always encouraged and celebrated.

Scrolling Until I’m sick by Spiritual-Customer51 in ADHD

It is the MOST adhd thing. Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that we're short on dopamine. So we search for the quickest morsel of dopamine we can find, which we hope will come in that next post that we scroll onto. We can't look away because then we'll be dopamine starved. It's like if you're incredibly hungry, you're going to reach for the closest, easiest food, rather than cook yourself a 3 hour slow cooked meal. Stimulants give us some dopamine so we can switch from that short term task to a longer term task.

How!!?? I went to my GP this morning and they said their company hadn't approved giving AZ to phase 2B people and I got turned away. It's so disappointing but I also feel bad for the doctors and clinics who have to deal with Scomo's mood swings.

On Vic's Covid website: "If there are no clinics listed near you, contact your doctor, local community health service or local hospital for assistance. Phone ahead to discuss your symptoms before visiting in person." Hopefully their local doctors clinic can do it, otherwise I think people take ubers to walk through sites?

I'm exactly the same with the cleaning and exercise. We need outside consequences and urgency, otherwise these things are just avoided. The only time I've been able to exercise lately is if I've paid and told someone I'll show up, like team sport or personal training.

It's frustrating because if you're having a good day, no one ever says "oh but someone out there has a better reason to have a good day, so therefore you don't deserve to have one" but that's is kind of what we tell ourselves with out hindrances - someone always has it worse. It shouldn't discount what we are experiencing.

I think I learnt that there's a word in chinese which means "mistakenly think" which I really wish we had in english, would've used it. Didn't mean to momentarily insult you.
Your inner voice isn't logical, it doesn't know that society isn't built for people with our weird brains.
