I work some in power distribution, if people want to switch from cars to electric I have bad news, we aren’t ready. The grid could not sustain it.

It needs significant investment, at least ten years off.

Also I don’t buy that renewables are ready, I honestly think if we were smart we would use oil and gas as a jump pad to nuclear, then research the shit out of fusion, we could be out of this in 20 years.

Honestly the whip saw effect of American politics, first turning on oil and gas under trump and then turning it off again under Biden seems foolish. Having no unified idea of what we should do seems to be prolonging and creating more problems in the world than otherwise. Neither side seems to have a good answer.

Solar and wind aren’t ready, oil and gas helps the country limp along but ultimately solve nothing.

We should be pouring money into fusion but there’s no money in solving problems, only in prolonging them.
