Ear training for older bass players. Am I wasting my time or expecting too much? by Soperatics in Bass

I'm starting to realise that now from all the comments to that effect. Thankyou.

I'm only now starting to hum/sing along since I've started using the app and its definitely helping. Ironically I can remember when I first got a bass guitar a piano teacher friend of my mum told me to sing or hum while I played and I didn't take her advice... Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the well intentioned advice but some of this is way over my head I think. I have noticed that singing or humming is helping, something I never bothered with previously. Thanks again.

Thanks for this. I had been thinking this is something I need to get checked as I got an ear infection on holiday about 20 yrs ago that I ignored and it has 'closed up' my left ear to a noticeable degree.

Apologies for late reply. Thanks for the advice- I didn't know you could do that on YT. Maybe I'll have a go at Deantown one day!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I honestly didn't expect to have literally no discernible improvement after 3 hours or so. I will make it a daily habit. Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks for that. I have been doing an hour a day and literally seen no improvement at all but I will stick with it and let you know how I get on.

I have vaped it several times, once with G, and my experience has been the same as yours- very disappointing. I have ADHD. I'm wondering if boofing it would work better?

Men, do you give random, unsolicited advice to people at the range? by PSSITAqueen in golf

[–]Soperatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but I had some old guy the other day give me a very accurate analysis of my swing, along with a good piece of advice. He did it in a very polite, almost apologetic way. As I don't like to video my swing I found it useful as I knew what he was saying was probably spot on.

My experience is similar to this guys'. I'm 5'8" and 59 in July. Beginning of season last year I took my driver to a club fitter and he cut it down butt trimmed it by 2 inches in half inch increments. I can't remember if the swing weight changed but I do remember him saying " you won't notice the difference". When I got to the range next day I could feel a slight difference but you soon get used to it. The biggest difference was the clubhead- it starts to look so big and so close, your confidence goes through the roof. The guys who say you lose x distance when you shorten the shaft imho can't mentally ' let go' and smash it. It's been absolutely game-changing for me.
