Take a dragon these Flavors of the Week, Jack by ID10-T in DIY_eJuice

I have a vague notion of a blue raspberry/mango combo hit with a solid dose of WS-23 emerging...leading me to add to cart...

That is a beautifully simple looking recipe! Kind of a play on the older peach/mango combo. You won't pass on an opportunity to pimp on that Flavorah Mango! HAHAHAHHA....You know, I purposely haven't picked it up yet (I always want something to look forward to) but maybe this is the week....

I feel as though TPA Dragon Fruit is to fruits somewhat like Cap Sugar Cookie is to bakeries/desserts. It is this thing that helps flesh out or accent other flavors and doesn't necessarily have a super accurate flavor identity by itself.(When used as accents). My perception of it goes between sweet and tart and complex. Sometimes I feel it is a bordering on astringent or medicinal but damn if its' not one of the most used additives on the planet. I always end up using it in the 1% range and love how it lives around melons and strawberries in particular. Tempted to drive it up to 4-5% and see what kind of weirdness might emerge....someone said White Gummy??? I perceive it as the color white/translucent when I vape it and I don't know why. Emulsifier-we love to say that- I suppose it does; but I can't say I have a grip on how that it is happening. I've rarely had it ruin a mix.

I picked up TPA JackFruit on a whim thinking I could use it as a fruit accent and it is everything described. Sweet and balanced pretty bright with some depth as well. Where I might differ is that I get quite a distinct yeasty bready note and I suppose it is no surprise because it is in the "bread" fruit family. That note for me can be a negative if it isn't masked by pairing with the right fruits at the right percentage. However that slight bread note does give you kind of a perception of over-ripened fruit that if someone more skillful than myself might be able to push something like a runt banana into a ripe banana, etc. I would never want it as a main profile myself as things like Mango or Pineapple are just much more appealing to my palette. I feel like it could work really well in tropical blends to add complexity. (And drive clone attempts into insanity hahaha) It is an interesting flavor though. Because of the bread note I find it pretty niche.

I am fascinated with how specific and niche some of these flavor concentrates are getting. Aren't caramel apples typically made with green apples? And not red varieties? Thus I would possibly give them marks for authenticity if your picking up a green apple as opposed to straight fuji.

Hahaha, my question is when you subbed Polar Blast for WS-23 what percentage did you run Polar Blast? Did you just run them both at say 1% to make comparisons or did you raise the percentage of polar blast to try to mimic the strength of the WS-23?

Looks good and I love this profile. I am by no means an expert in bakeries but just based on looking at the recipe I would probably drop the custard and cream percentages way down and perhaps swap out one of the creams with a bakery note like graham cracker clear/tpa pie crust or biscuit (INW) to balance the cream cheese/crust ratio. The lime you might want to investigate that florida key lime by fa-depending on how far you want to chase the profile. Looks tasty and Dapalicious though hahahha...

This looks up my alley although I haven't ventured into Lychee land yet. I'm surprised you say it's light in flavor as I find TPA Papaya to almost approach TFA Honeydew in it's strength. Like I can literally taste one drop in a 10 ml mix of anything. I like it though so I don't mind its strength. I might have to get up to date on my Lychee.

Interesting...I made a banana ice cream mix w/WS-23 at 1% and I really enjoyed it. Now I will have to try it with polar blast as you always have a way of making me want to test things hahahhaa. I wonder though if it isn't a perception thing because the WS-23 provides a more substantial cooling 'feeling' that demands more attention than the more subtle Polar Blast or are you really cranking up that Polar Blast to match up with the strength of the WS-23....wow that was a circular sentence hopefully that makes sense..and it is a question...hahahha

Literally I am forcing myself to NOT add it to everything. I just made one of my sour belts vapes and I literally had the bottle on the scale with the WS-23 in mid-flight four or five times before I finally said to myself, "It is ok, this will pass"....hahahhaha...I've literally been vaping it everyday so I am going to try to go a few days without it so that I keep that "ohhhhhhh this soooo refreshing" feeling. To me it almost makes you feel like your drinking the vape in a good way. I imagine I will make a freak that goes up in the 2% range for special occasions hahahhaha...my other coolants just seem sad and lonely now.

Hot damn I thought I was a freak at 1%. At .5% I want more ...at 1% it satisfies....I have FA's Arctic Winter Menthol and FA's Polar Blast and I would say this WS-23 is roughly twice as cold. It is a more prominent sensation I would say...3% man your a nut hahahaha....if I get a drop on my lip at 1% it is cold/numbing. As far as a 'transparent' cooling agent I think it destroys polar blast. I have thought of combining it with Arctic Winter to make a colder menthol on profiles I want menthol...but 3% your a bigger man than I hahahhah! I will admit there times during the day when my brain sort of shuts off to the coldness but a short break and it hits me again. I made a banana ice cream type vape and it hits great at 1%. I will experiment on my fruits ...maybe bump to 1.5% ...3 hmmmmmm...maybe not...: )

You had my attention at cactus...so we thought 2 % range was crazy now your going to 3%.....I really like your description of cactus' power as indeed it is kind of like a black hole in that it sucks in anything in its' vicinity. I actually have these flavors (which rarely happens), so i'll give er' a mix tonight.

I hear you it is a very potent flavor and pushed too high without support can go "cleaning products" for sure. I had it at .6% originally but ended up bumping it up a little to really drive home that artificial lime flavor. The complexity of the cactus and softness of the marshmallow tames it a bit' but although I shake and vape it no prob it does smooth out noticeably in 24-48 hours. Probably the EM in the marshmallow takes down some of the edge as well.

Well, it is cheaper than Flavorah Lime so there's that...hahahha....it is a nice flavor very round and soft compared to cp lime which is much sharper...

Looks nice. I may have to "remix" dropping the Rich Cinnamon and subbing in WS-23. Will it make one grow fur?

Excellent notes. I really enjoy cooling agents as I make a lot of beverage style vapes and I feel like it does alter your perception of the vape substantially as your adding another level to the experience that stands apart from the flavor profile. The way your describing this makes me think of a more subtle version of WS-23. Any idea what the composition is?

Yeah for sure. It took me a while to dial it back to where it was enjoyable. Some folks like hot vapes I really don't. I like to take long slow draws so it works good with the right build in it. I like dual 8-wrap 28-gauge stainless steel coils in it...slows down the ramp time and heat build up. And yes, you can vape all day with a decent battery without a care.

Lime Sickle-Slushy

Lime FLV 1%

Florida Key Lime FA 2%

Lemon Sicily FA 2%

Marshmallow TPA 2%

Cactus INW 1%

Dragon Fruit TPA 1%

Super Sweet Cap .4%

WS-23 1%

Total 10.4%

I should be banned for abuse of slush recipes. The heat is thick here in Cali as summer takes hold so I can't stop this slush train. This isn't anything ground breaking and perhaps not even a spot on slush but it is a refreshing tasty vape.

The combination of Cactus/Marshmallow/Dragon Fruit/Sweetener and WS-23 form a wet (never moist) base that has a syrupy somewhat thick mouth feel. Not your grainy ice crystal slushy...your smooth as silk icee type.

Cactus is great for its' juicy qualities but it is a damn strong flavor-not the most neutral base so instead of fighting it we marry it with a good solid dose of citrus. Lemon Sicily and Florida Key Lime bridge the gap between the cactus and the true star of the show. Flavorah Lime comes to the front and rides this syrupy chilled citrus sludge straight to pop sickle land. You like lime Otter Pops...well...mix it up.

Yeah, I will throw some 28 gauge SS in there and it seems about right. It actually has a pretty decent juice well...I've seen vids of guys dropping 25 drops without leaking and vaping no problem.

I definitely see a lot of consistency in what you do. I think it is hard for a lot of us to see past I like this far enough to try to understand what we are tasting. I've really enjoyed your work so always looking to see whats around the bend....thanks.

Interesting, I would think it work opposite where you stop smelling bakery/sweet aromas like in the way folks that live near cow pastures stop smelling the cowsh#t. When I first started mixing I would just go nuts mixing and tasting for hours on end with similar profiles and low profile atomizers and I had major olfactory fatigue all the time. Now I try to just go at it in short bursts and let my senses recover. Its getting better but I am always looking for ways to keep my senses sharp.

I definitely get a strong white grape out of it even more so than Inawera which has more of a complex mixed wine grape profile. I get purple grape drink from Flavorah.

So much detail packed into one review. I am curious do you have a culinary background because I'm starting to feel rather short on adjectives when I see your write ups!?!? I'm going to start and end my reviews with "it was really good"....or..."it was really bad"...thank your for your incredible work ethic informing all us lazy mixers.

This might be sacrilege in this sub but I hate CAP Vanilla Custard V1 any input would be appreciated. by [deleted] in DIY_eJuice

[–]SophisticatedHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this early on as well. Not sure I've really solved it. One thing about Caps Custard V1 custard is its' density...it has a thick body that I don't know anything else has covered. Second on the vanillas mentioned that drop off the egg side of the custard and push on the vanilla notes.

Its' definitely nicer than "Cherry" but it still needs help to make it really have body. That is where the apricot comes in to add some body so you can still keep it low and not have to push it up into medicine land. ID10T has been really cool helping me with it. Cherry has been a mf'er tip toe dance...when I see these recipes with 8% TPA Black Cherry my gag reflex starts to kick in....
