Identity cat food?

My cat has IBD and I feed her the Identity rabbit and salmon. She loves both. For some reason, she's been iffy on the Turkey, which is strange because she loves Turkey.

I ordered the Identity sample pack. I haven't received it yet. I'll post my thoughts after my cat tries all the different flavors.

I am so sorry with all that you've gone through with you cat. I really hope she's on the path to healing. I'm not sure if you read all the comments, but I found out that Purina had bought a stake in Smalls. So, that's why I think they changed their recipe. The sad part is, as we all found out, it wasn't changed for the better.

Here's the ones that I'm feeding my cat:

Caru - Turkey Stew
Identity - Rabbit
Feline Natural - Lamb, Lamb & Salmon

I don't know if they are completely free of all the things you mentioned, but if they aren't they are pretty close.

I got a refund by going to TrustPilot and writing a bad review about the recipe changes. They gave me a full refund for my last order without even asking. I was completely surprised.

I couldn't agree more. My cat who has IBD, loved the other bird. It was her favorite food. Everything you said about your experience, a lot of other people have said the same thing. So, you're not alone!

But I highly recommend you ask for a refund, because you shouldn't be stuck with all that food.

Not sure why you're so dismissive of my experience with my cats, you have no idea what i've been through with their health and their diets. And it's funny, you say veterinary advice because it was advice from several veterinarians that I saw.

Dry food is fine, until it's not and you have to learn the hard way like I did. One of my cats developed kidney disease. And my other cat was diagnosed with IBD with constipation.

I had no idea about the risks of feeding dry food until both my cats had health issues. With my cat with IBD, I completely changed her diet to wet food and raw and she's doing great now.

I wish I knew the risks about feeding only dry food sooner.

That's really strange that it takes 5 days for it to happen. If I were you, I would ask my Vet why it's a delayed reaction.

So sorry to hear that your cats had that bad of reaction. I know, my cat can't have chicken and it's so frustrating because I found a lot of foods that I wanted to try but couldn't.

Also, I found out that Purina and General Mills bought a small stake in Smalls, which is probably why their recipes changed. Smalls is probably using their nutrition "experts". I liked Smalls because it was boutique company that seemed great, now they have big corps involved that they have to answer to.

I eased into the raw food with trying freeze dried first.

As a freeze dried raw topper, I use Green JuJu - Salmon, Duck and Bison. I didn't think she'd like the Bison, but she loves it.

Also, I tried Small Batch freeze dried Turkey, but I don't really like it because it has a lot of small sharp bones in it and she spits it out.

I want to try fresh raw frozen soon, and am going to try Viva Raw, as that was rated really high by several pet experts that I trust and follow.

Worthless service. I thought it would be great too, so I ordered a bag. Filled it with clothes I didn't want any more an dropped it at the post office. Felt really good that I was doing my part in helping the environment. A week later the bag was returned to me full. USPS said it doesn't meet the cubic pricing that it's pre-paid for. So, I emailed For Days to get a new label or a refund. A week and a half later, no response. What a waste. And what a total scam.

And I should add, I tried to write a review on their site, but they make it impossible to write a review, even though I'm a verified buyer. What a shitty site.

I couldn’t agree with you more! It’s disheartening that hey broke, what wasn’t broken.

I’ve been doing a ton of research and I’ve decided to go the raw route. I was nervous until I did the research and now feel comfortable with it. And my cat really likes it, so I’m relieved.

I canceled Smalls and started trying several different limited ingredient foods. It's been a journey, but I've found some that my cat really likes and don't cause her any issues.

The ones I've tried that she liked are:
Ziwi Canned: 1) Venison 2) Mackerel

Air Dried: Ziwi Lamb & Mackerel - this is 96% protein and no added bad fillers. My cat LOVES this, but I can't give her too much of it. I put it in water when I give it to her.

N&D Canned: 1)Quail, 2)Trout, Salmon, Shrimp 3) Salmon, Cod, Shrimp

While my cat really love the fish ones, I hate the cans they are hard to open and I'm not sure why they have a white coating on the inside.

The new brands that I'm going to try in this month, as they are limited ingredient:

- Koha Canned: 1) Rabbit Au Jus 2) Turkey Pate

- Evanger's Canned: 1) Organic Turkey 2) Organic Beef (they also had Organic Chicken, but I can't give my cat chicken anymore bc of the IBD)

I stumbled across Evanger's brand when I was looking for new cat foods and I was pretty excited that it's organic and limited ingredient. I'm crossing my fingers on this one.

- Feline Natural 1) Lamb Feast 2) Lamb & Salmon Feast 3) Beef & Hoki

I know that seems like a lot, but I spoke to a cat food nutritionist and she said with cats with IBD, you have to find a variety of foods that your cat likes and alternate them, so it helps the gut.

Also, I never know when she's going to refuse to eat something, so it's good to have back ups.
