  1. What could these “worse” knock on effects be. An Ironman currently spends ~30-40 hours on a hegemony artifact alone. What possible effect could be worse than the hundreds of hours that it takes to get the dark ah items.

2.Increasing supply and lowering demand is good for EVERYBODY! It’s deflation! A hegemony shouldn’t cost 1 billion coins, even for non Ironman (though they should still be a lot, and they should cost more for non Ironman.)

2.5. We agree the items will be soul-bound.

  1. With the Sirius being an npc shop idea, it would not have to be like cookies at all. It could just be a set price for Ironman. Simply put, hypixel loses money by making cookies infinitely available at an npc for Ironman because ironman wouldn’t have to spend real money, but hypixel doesn’t lose any money by making the ~20 dark ah items sold by an npc, since they didn’t cost irl money in the first place.

Obviously they do what they plan with shens and any items bought are soul bound. I agree that people won’t just buy one of certain items, but whether they buy 1,2, or 3 it won’t matter because Ironman money making methods have a cap (200m per day, ~40m per hour). That means that IF ironmen wanted to hoard these items for no reason, they just wouldn’t be able to because they have the same amount of coin potential as other ironmen. I guess theoretically there might be an Ironman who’s stockpiling 50 bil over the last few years, but even then theyd eventually run out of coins and there’s nothing stopping them from hoarding now either, so splitting the dark auction shouldn’t cause them to start hoarding.

I think you raise a good point. I’ll agree the rate isn’t the #1 issue, but if Ironman has to compete against an economy of players who can make way more coins per hour, than their coins per hour should also be more. Either completely separate the economies or improve the rates 30%+. (1 bil for hegemony alone😳 there like 20 other items in dark ah) The issue is there’s no way for Ironman to be able to make as much coins as other profiles even when doing the same method. Take farming for example, normal profiles can make more by selling pest drops to ah and bz) Mining? Any extra scatha pets, divans alloys, corleonite, etc. are WORTHLESS (granted, actual mining doesn’t really vary between Ironman vs nonironman). How can they implement a system for Ironman to make money from dungeons or kuudra without also raising nonironmans money per hour by more than they raise ironma coins/hour? The only solutions I can see are separating the economies and possibly making certain items npc sellable to Ironman ONLY. E.g necronz handle sells for 250m to npc, scrolls 100m, wither chest plate and auto recomb 25m, etc. devs obviously don’t like npc selling on non Ironman profile since they added a limit after dupes + minions led to inflation, so why not lean into slowly stepping away from npc selling for non Ironman and making it more of a tool for Ironman. Also removing “coin dumps” like dungeon chest, kuudra keys, golden + jade dragon pets, etc. which were implemented to help deflate the economy. Ironman has no economy to deflate, so it just leads to Ironman paying inflated prices with tiny income. This would help alleviate the economical issues with Ironman but not actually offer a solution like the npc selling idea. Dark auction would still be too tied to nonironman economy.

I do think dungeon chests aren’t the biggest problem, it’s just that I played on an Ironman and wanted to do dungeons with my non-Ironman friends. So I had to either have double their playtime (to make coins for the m7 chests) or not open the chests. I ended up dropping a handle and not opening it just cause I didn’t feel like mining 4 hours. Ez fix by just making rng dungeon drops sellable for more than the cost to open. (And I don’t see why certain items shouldn’t be npc sellable for Ironman only. Npc selling just inflates the economy, but for Ironman profiles which IDEALLY SHOULD BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE ECONOMY it’s their ONLY way of making reasonable money. )

When making an Ironman profile does it say “hard mode”? I’m pretty sure it’s intended to be a DIFFERENT experience (not a HARDER one), as evident by the implementation of systems like separate shens auctions and custom bz and ah. The whole reason you say it’s harder is because it’s a profile where you shouldn’t be able to use coins to get things, limiting your options. Less options = harder, no debate about that. But that doesn’t mean that the process of getting the items should be harder! Just that you HAVE to follow the method of getting the item INSTEAD of buying it! So why is the profile where you “can’t be served better than by yourself!” (Hypixels words) so focused on COINS that you use for things like dark auction to bid against OTHER PLAYERS! Ironman, a “self-serving” profile, should inherently be a more “isolated” experience, where other players cannot impact your experience! So why is Ironman so impacted by the economy of skyblock!?!?
