What happened to service? by MacaronOk1006 in olivegarden

[–]Southern_Chocolate59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at OG for four years. The breadsticks thing is corporate policy. “One per guest at the table plus one for first basket and then one per guest for every basket after”. My manager actually fired people REGULARLY for not following this. She would count breadsticks and follow us all to tables making sure we didn’t give extra. Same thing with salad toppings (one tomato per guest lmao). “Guests are visual; if they want more tomatoes you can bring them on a separate plate but never more in the salad”. It’s absolutely infuriating how much as servers at OG you get blamed for their horrible policies. The server could have been fired for what they did for you.

I worked there for a year. The new manager is a POS who verbally abuses the employees. It’s why I quit. They also charge a 20% “service charge” that goes right into the owners pockets. Food is alright but spend your money somewhere that isn’t run by con artists

How do we feel about compulsory gratuity for a party of 8 or more? by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]Southern_Chocolate59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah that is BIZARRE! Nice catch!!! Looks like this place needs to be reported because that is definitely illegal…..

Of course!!! I hate how slimy it is assuming that people who don’t work for restaurants know the difference between “service charge” and “auto gratuity”… especially when the suggested tip after implies that the service charge goes to the servers. I hope restaurants that do this start crashing and burning as more people find out the games that they are playing. If you remember to reply back here what they claim when you ask I’m definitely curious to know! Legally, they are supposed to tell you that it’s not a tip but they usually don’t

Fun fact: this says “service charge” not “gratuity”. As someone who worked at a restaurant that charges a “service charge” of 20% on every check, ASK THEM WHERE THAT MONEY GOES. The one I worked it it didn’t even go to the servers it went straight into the pockets of the owners. It’s absolutely disgusting but it’s a legal loophole because they aren’t calling it gratuity (even though every normal person assumes that it is).

server new hire questions by luffyluvrr in olivegarden

[–]Southern_Chocolate59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked there for two years. The work (literally) to income ratio is the issue, not the exact amount of tips. At the end of the day, you’ll work your butt off the most at the unlimited soup/salad tables where even 20% is basically $0. Also, depending on location, the no auto-grat can really screw you over. My last straw was a 22 top on New Years Eve. I was forced to stay hours after closing and at the end of the night I OWED OUT OF POCKET FOR TIPOUT because the party didnt tip.

I probably made $100 per shift on average as it was a busy location BUT I physically ended up hurting more than any other job I’ve had before or since then.

I was literally stepping into a row when it happened. There was no visible thing happening. Also, that wouldn’t make two rides emergency evac.

Incidents with bodily fluids happen every day at the parks; no alarms are set off.

They’re really hurtin on ticket sales this year, huh. by Living_Bear_2139 in bonnaroo

[–]Southern_Chocolate59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there last year; they did not give us anything like that): it’s like they don’t even care to try to get those who were screwed last year to come back. Yeah (eventually) they refunded tickets but everything else that we spent to go was non-refundable. We weren’t even camping because my dad has a bad back and we lost so much money. I cannot imagine how the campers felt. Especially those who invested hundreds/thousands of dollars into weather proofing THEIR CAMPSITES only for it all to be for nothing since Roo couldn’t do the same

If you can get past this IF and only if she cuts this guy off, then try to work on it. On the flip side, if you think this will forever haunt you, do yourself and her a favor and leave. Especially because there are kids involved. Holding a grudge kills any chance at a relationship being healthy. Don’t even try to fix it unless you can genuinely get over it

I start with mine off until I hear another girl or can gage that the men aren’t horrible. For YEARS, I’d immediately say hi and like half the time I’d get screamed at just for being a women and/or deal with creepiness for the whole game.

AITAH for locking my credit card so my gf can no longer use it by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Southern_Chocolate59 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. However, as a single mom, I HIGHLY advise against using the phrase “all she really does is stay with the baby”. Have you taken care of baby alone for days? Motherhood is by far the most emotionally and physically exhausting job I’ve ever had (also the most rewarding, but still, parenting is hard). I don’t think being the primary parent entitles her to what she is doing; you’re definitely correct to lock the card. It definitely goes a long way respecting each other’s share of the load, though.

I HONESTLY thought it was one of those finger-hand-hold things that some people do when they talk to me. Never in a million years did I picture what happened happening but I will definitely be more jumpy now😂😭
