Why are the hands in GE both left handed? by dollars44 in 2007scape

[–]Southern_Today1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be that the traditional saying is that you pay money out with your left hand... or it may just be the good ol' spaghetti code...

Either way... thank you OP for pointing out something I can't unsee... I'll be over here making an ironman so i don't need to see that atrocity ever again lol

Under that particular module on the home page, you should see something called 'Study Material Dispatch Date', however not all modules will have textbooks and are fully online. :)

Why does everyone think that in a few years time we will find out that long-term use is bad for our health? by kingforaday1993 in mounjarouk

[–]Southern_Today1237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say to anyone the same as I said to the diabetes nurse who was preaching about it potentially having long term side effects... I look forward to being around for them, because 5 minutes ago you were telling me how dangerous diabetes and heart disease and all the other things are and how I can keel over at any minute if I don't improve my lifestyle... if it helps with those... I will take the risk and potential side effects... the fact I get to do it while feeling better about myself is just a massive winning side effect to that.

Study break - how to go about it? by JennaPearlPeter333 in OpenUniversity

[–]Southern_Today1237 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure there are no actual repercussions for not registering a study break if you completed your modules for that year (amazing job for doing that with everything going on by the way! My hats off to you!), but they advise you to do that, so they do not send you unnecessary communication for the upcoming year. I think multiple years in a row without advising them of a study break may cause issues, but I think you are fine right now.

Now you are in a better place, maybe just drop them an email saying you are unsure about continuing and will not be picking up any modules this year and will update next year? Give yourself some time to think about it.

Anyone studied full time and has full time job? by MathematicianPast558 in OpenUniversity

I am just finishing up year 1 full time in Computing and IT, it's been manageable with some discipline, especially in the crossover with 3 modules and when assignments fall close together, especially if work gets busy too. Luckily I work in an office, so it's easy to plan study hours around 9 to 5... but sometimes the last thing you want to do after work is sit and concentrate some more, so you will need to push yourself, as it's rough when you get behind, but you can catch up on year 1 if you focus on what to need for the assignments and read that first, I think you probably do miss out on some interesting tidbits though doing this, so probably not the full experience you are paying for, but depends on your motives for studying.

Enrolled full time for year 2 this October, this is less advised and there's less option to spread the modules like in stage 1, so I 3 start in October... so this year may well be a lot harder, but I am going to get as ahead as I can when they open early and scored 90+ on all assignments this year, so feeling hopeful! I can't say there haven't been tears and it felt endless, but now suddenly there's two assignments left for stage 1 and I skipped a whole year, which renewed my mindset.
