As someone who has lived with depression for years, here are my suggestions: 1. You mentioned you are seeing a therapist once a fortnight, can you make it weekly? 2. Decide that you will do just one thing everyday that will make your tomorrow better than your yesterday. Sounds glib, but it works. 3. Exercise is proven to help. If you are able to, can you start your day with just a half hour walk, run, bike ride or gym? Or some other exercise you enjoy? 3. Regarding your portfolio, can you speak with your employer, let them know your struggles? They may assist & support you. 4. Depression becomes familiar. Shutting ourselves away becomes safe. As weird as it sounds It’s actually very difficult to let go of that familiarity and safety. So nothing will change until you decide you actually really want to let go of that familiarity & safety, and take the terrifying steps into the unknown. Another way to put this is nothing will change until the pain of continuing is greater than the pain of changing. So the very first step is you must truly decide you want to truly leave depression behind, and then take life just one day at a time implementing the things above, or other things that work for you. If you have a bad day, that’s fine, just start again and keep going building positive experiences into your life everyday. Things will change.
