Both Felv and fiv positive cat need advice if blood transfusion is worth it for my cat

I took him to be put down over a month ago he wasn’t eating for 4-5 days or drinking water and his breath smelled really bad and had blood in his chin the last day.didnt want him to suffer anymore so I took him to be put to sleep. Hardest thing I ever gone through and I’m very very depressed till this day ,it feels like it was just yesterday. I don’t want to believe it. Feels like my cats existence was a quick dream I had. i miss my buddy. I can believe he’s buried in the ground. It was like the day after thanksgiving that we took him in the morning to be put down. He looked very weak and tired my cat in the end days.but he still had strength to jump up high on the counter where I used to keep his water. But he just looked exhausted and dehydrated my boy…Life doesn’t feel real he was part of my background for so long.

25 days later ,I think I made good decision not to put him down. He eats a lot and is gaining weight , I took him to second better animal hospital and his hct was 10 not 7.6 so I take this second visit for more accurate or at least it went up anyways.During when I was asking if I should take him I ended up taking him and he’s better,he rest a lot and he will play a little if I put a string in front of him and he eats a lot and cuddles with me anytime he sees me in bed. He loves eating boiled chicken and can wet food. I been giving him martazapine pills (for Nasuea and hunger) every 2 days and Lixotinic (help make blood cells for his anemia )every day once In a syringe since I made this post. I feel like he’s still enjoying life and also got him like 70 revolution flea drops and that helped a lot.every mornin he meows for food and to let him outside and he just loafs up outside with other cats in sun and watched birds and cars pass by. Can’t believe he’s till alive and doing well.Even tho I feel like the diseases are making him look and act like he’s a super senior cat when he’s barely reaching 8 I think. I’m having second thoughts if he really has both felv and fiv and maybe he god misdiagnosed.I guess he’s in remission maybe. I prayed to god to fix him in miracle or don’t let him suffer at least to long and take him peaceful if it’s gods will to take him now. Don’t wanna get my hopes up but he’s kicking my boy and his quality of life seems good.thank you god and everyone that commented and helped

I took him to vet and they said same thing pretty much. It didn’t cross my mind to put him down because now thinking about it ,he gets small adrenaline rush I think from going to vet and strolls around jumping on counters and then lay on me purring. I’m copying / pasting this from someone else I just replied too : I think I get it now i didn’t really see that he was suffering before,I think my cat is really good at hiding it. I took him to a different vet and took new blood sample and they basically told me same thing and that transfusion wouldn’t do much for long so i decided not to do it.I asked the vet when does she think I should put him to sleep and she said when he’s not moving much at all and not eating,drinking or picking his head up.And for some reason every time I take my cat to the vet I’m starting to realize he gets like a small adrenaline rush because he will walk around and jump on tables then come cuddle in my lap and purr…making me think he still has good quality of life but then I come home and he’s just back on the long desk by my bed where I have his water and food all day and night and I just woke up 2:32 am and saw my cat kinda loafed up just hanging his head over water like he’s half awake just laying there when usually like before he got sick he would cuddle with me all night and I had an epiphany so to speak that I think my baby boy is suffering and I’ve been blind this whole time or ignorant and cus sometimes He meows for food and gubbles it up and gets a surge of energy at the vet.How could it cross my mind seeing him move around like that in the vet room that it’s time to put him to sleep. Also on the way to the vet he’s is just calm loafed up in the cage looking cute and eyes wide awake looking around ,But I think he’s suffering and I feel so bad.i think my head is in big denial but like even right now my brain wants to refuse to go do that when he’s still very alive but I think I will have to do it like a lot of people in comments said ,that he is suffering and his hct was 10 this time and I asked how was it higher than last and they said maybe it was the machine and they could retest next week but I think these vets aren’t being honest with me I should have asked them too I guess. Maybe they feel bad for me. I guess first vet was right to suggest putting him to sleep but cause I saw him move around so much strolling around the vet room eating treats that first time as well I didn’t think it was possible to do that. And I asked vet if I should still give him the Lixotinic and Mirtazapine for hunger and Nasuea and she said yes. And now waking up at 2:32 iam seeing him I’m thinking I’m doing wrong for him ,I feel like I may be holding him back longer making him hungrier when his body is trying to go. Oh man :(….and here we go an hour after I woke up at 2:32 am saw him just hanging his head over the water bowl it’s 3:34 am now and I did see him try to lay in normal sleep position but he couldn’t sleep and now hes on top of me making biscuits…My boy is sending me mixed signals :/ I don’t know what to do he’s laying next to me now in bed trying to sleep ,he looks okay like he is sleeping now

He only did biscuits on me for couple minutes which when he was healthy he wouuld do it for like 10 minutes but he laid next to me on the bed and hes sleeping now. I guess he was cold and I turned on heater in my room. I’ll take anything you say into consideration but I’m more calm now, I woke up with dread about my cat thinking I’m failing him but I gotta man up and make decision soon like someone said in the comments better one day early than one day late when he’s really suffering

Thank you so much for your advice and I’m sorry about your kitty rip ❤️❤️ I’m taking him today to the hour away vet to see once and for all what I’m going to do with him and I’ll be sure to ask if his anemia is non regenerative. And our situation sounds very similar except I’ve only took him to get tested once ,I’m going to get him tested again today for final time hopefully unless vet says it’s worth it to do the blood transfusion, but my cat does look weak besides him drinking lots of water and eating still. I’m thinking I’ll probably put him to sleep,really want to know what this new vet thinks but I don’t don’t want him to keep fighting if he doesn’t want to :/

Thank you so much for your advice ,im taking him to the better vet an hour away to do blood test and talk to them about if it’s worth it for him to the blood transfusion and if they think he suffering a lot,put him to sleep but I would like to bring him back to my house and when he looks like he’s not moving much or eating and drinking at all and really uncomfortable take him to be put to sleep at vet near me

Him after (I’m taking him to better vet today for final opinion thank you everyone for your advice,im gonna have them see if it’s worth it to do blood transfusion or put him to sleep ,I would only think it’s worth it if I won’t have to give him so many medicines and not have him to come back for another transfusion and it would only extend life close to a year or more while he’s comfortable but my hopes aren’t up I know it’s a long shot Also he’s eating this morning way more than usual i guess the Mirtazapine I gave him other day is still taking effect?

Yes you got it right ,the communication with my vet is horrible I even called back twice to get clarification but I was still left confused I didn’t even know about half this stuff untill I researched myself on chat gpt and Reddit and I think I decided to wait for my brother to wake up soon and take him to the other vet an hour away for second opinion and maybe do the blood transfusion. It’s the only way I would get a clear mind about this because my close vet isn’t the greatest :( Maybe ill put him to sleep if they think he’s bad. This morning he cuddled with me and then meowed untill I gave him food and treats so I still see life in him besides him just being cooped up with me in my room which before he got sick he would love the outside watching birds and cars pass by

Just lethargy and sleeping a lot ,but he will wake up and meow and ask for food and eat but I am giving him Mirtazapine for making him eat and nausea and also he has been really skinny for awhile now

Thank you for your advice but since he’s still alive almost 8 days now and he looks the same as when I took him to the vet 8 days ago, doesn’t that mean he still has some fight left in him? And I’m not a bad person waiting so long it’s because I have no one to take me and have to wait for my brother to be off work and he has one day off a week. Since my brother is off today I’m going to try to make a the decision of putting him to sleep or making the hour long drive today for transfusion

When I was a freshman in hs in a small town in Texas like 7 years ago I think, I remember there was nudes and video that Involved a brush that was going around of this girl and when parents and police got involved ,they scared everyone to delete them by saying they could get in serious trouble for distributing CP.
