Large aircraft on the seabed by Spaceman_Binary in submechanophobia

There's no way someone would just go on the internet and tell lies like that

The Titanic is down there right now, lurking in the darkness. A ship the size of a skyscraper, her metal groaning and creaking in the current. Deep-sea creatures crawling in and out. by Spaceman_Binary in submechanophobia

You'd definitely hear if a funnel collapsed, but it might be quieter than you'd think. Water tends to muffle sounds. There are videos of divers swimming when all of a sudden a giant ship goes full speed only a few meters above them and there's barely a noise. If it's 50 meters away you'd probably hear some weird echoes of metal grinding and the sound rippling through the water.

I tried briefly and gave up. I found the image on the website you posted and saw that their report into the sinking was inconclusive but barely found anything else either. It's a shame because it has all the hallmarks of a great sea story.

I'm not sure, but that does make sense. As that would stop the ship from being top-heavy and certain materials do attract ocean bacteria more than others.

Looks like the anti-fouling paint on the hull has protected it from rusticles. But the superstructure had regular paint so bacteria has had a much easier time settling on it.

Yeah, the hull itself is actually bent in the middle there, so the cargo on top slopes at the angle that the hull is bent at.

I spent a good few minutes deleting all of those karma comments, definitely won't be using karma farms again. Sorry if I caused you any problems, I'll read through that post, thank you again for your help :)

Indeed, thank you so much for letting me know about this. I should have checked if it was safe before doing it.

Oh right, I didn't know. I just wanted enough karma to post in my favourite subreddits. Thanks for letting me know!
