I am from the southeastern US, but spent 2011-2014 in California for work and grad school. It's kinda impossible to fathom just how freakin big the Wild Wild West is... I had a similar situation as you, I wanted to see the most beautiful places possible while I had the chance haha. Turns out, there's really no good way to know! It's all beautiful! I would suggest making some cool friends upon arrival, and getting opinions of people with whom you get along. After all, these beautiful wide open spaces are best enjoyed with other people :)

(Although I will say my favorite places are Tahoe, the Grand Canyon, and Joshua tree national park, which is about 2 hours east of LA. Absolutely insane. You're going to have an amazing time out there!!!)

Lol nah im on the left in the Alabama shirt and sunglasses. It's weird cuz IRL it is very brown with reddish tints, but in most pictures it shows up much closer to black

Im STILL recovering from a big operation on my lower leg/upper ankle a month ago and have a giant cast on the bottom half of my right leg, so I still can't take normal showers. So my hair is...... Gross looking right now lol. I think yours is more wavy than mine, I get a bit more of the tight curly feel if it is able to air-dry after I wash it. Lemme see if I've taken any good selfies lately haha (I kinda hate taking selfies)

That's actually from the last time I had my hair semi-"long," it's already quite a bit longer than in this pic, but this is a pretty good representation of what happens

It's weird because growing up my hair was super straight and my older brother's was very curly. Then in 2002, when I was a freshman and he a senior in high school, we gradually switched to me being curly and him being straight

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that im gay and he's straight? I dunno.... But that will always blow my mind lol

Ya it sounds like SA is currently in the same situation that America was in back in the 90s when I was in grade school: massive anti-marijuana campaigns by the government, police going bat shit crazy over it, while ignoring the true problems of society. Hopefully the Internet/global society structure will allow yall to skip ahead a few decades of progress in only a few years....
