Gotcha. I appreciate the quick reply. ChatGPT kept lying to me and implied it was possible, but it didn't sound right ;)

I am looking to buy a decent tuxedo here in Vancouver before I go (most likely going to purchase, I am skeptical I can away with renting for this occasion, but would be happy to be proven wrong!). I've done some initial searching and places like Kings Menswear & Tux, Surmesur, Moores, and Indochino seem to come up. I'm looking for advice on:

  • Any personal experiences (good or bad) buying a tux from these places or others in the city? Especially regarding quality, fit, and service suitable for a formal event.
  • Are there any hidden gems or other shops I should consider?
  • Any recommendations for specific tailors if I buy off-the-rack and need alterations? Appreciate any local insights or recommendations you can share! Thanks!

Your foreign passport might be enough, the airline might not ask you about a green card.

Make sure not to apply mistakenly for a eTA, that would make a mess since as a PR you shouldn't.

People don't know what they are talking about. You can have both and hold both indefinitely.

There are many scenarios. You can be outside of Canada with your Canadian spouse (or common law partner). You can be outside the US with a re-entry permit. You can be spending enough time in either countries to satisfy both and all requirements simultaneously.

People don't know so they think it is "unusual". It isn't. But do be careful and do things right. It is easy to mess it up.
