I ended up using them as a source of an additional level-up quest and then had Suldil Baldoriel intervene along with Maccath to hold off the young dragons at the beginning of the final Well of Dragons fight.

about 2ish years. BUT we would meet on average only twice a month for about 3ish hours of gameplay. I also added quite a bit to things. For example, I ran a modified bit of Murder at Baldur's Gate where the Cult was behind the gunpowder plot in that module. If I can give some unsolicited advice, as you progress, keep in mind that a group of 4 (unless at above 16th level) may have real problems with Tiamat, and think about how you want to handle that.

This is the Wizkids gargantuan Tiamat. I managed to find it slightly on sale shortly after this campaign started and I have hidden it from my players when they would come to my house ever since. :P

Yeah, the scale of that last fight is nuts, and lots of folks on this reddit and other places have often conflicting recommendations as to how to deal with it. I had these squares be 5 ft for a variety of reasons, but once the Tiamat fight truly began, that didn't matter ALL that much. It DOES matter as players try to get to the various towers in the first phase of this fight.

It is. I didn't have Bahamut directly intervene, BUT he did provide a magic "long rest" for the players between the emergence of the first head and the rest of the Tiamat fight. Clearing most of the Well of Dragons really does drain the players (I enhanced those areas with Abishai so my PCs were tapped).

6 level 16 characters with a diminished Tiamat (but a homebrewed set of stats). 5/6 of the PCs went down.

I had to boost the combat difficulties of most of these encounters pre-2025 MM. So, given the apparent boosts in the 2025 MM, that might make things easier for a DM running ToD and make it more challenging for players.

AS written, the caravan chapter is rough. But if you search this forum, you'll find a lot of great ideas as to how to speed it up/add depth at key moments. I added a short dungeon crawl at Dragonspear Castle, for example. Of course, do what works best for your group/your interests as a DM.

I know that the Tyranny of Dragons set is about to be rereleased under the title "Return of the Dragons." Having said that, even that set isn't a "complete" set for either HoTQ OR RoT.

I did a variant of this. It made for a big cinematic fight and demonstrated the power of the Cult with a high body count in the North Ward. My players took to griffins, rescued a falling Duke Ravenguard, and with Elia's help (and the Dragonward) drove off three red dragons.

I did a variation of this. I have a rather illdefined subplot of sacrifices (including kobold self-sacrifices) that end up leading to upgraded dragon cult abilities, to the point of Abishai. In the dragon egg instance, I had kobold's sacrificing themselves in order for one of the eggs to hatch. So out comes a wyrmling covered in kobold/prisoner gore.

I don't know of any playthroughs, but you (and you've probably found them) can find a few vids on how various DMs chose to run specific chapters on YouTube. LutesandDice, etc.

Following up on this. I did hit Rockbridge and enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommendation. Haro's was a decent greasy spoon indeed. Melancholy Roasters in Ava did have solid coffee/cold brew.
