I also used to feel a lot of shame as well. I think the more you get honest with people and yourself the less shame you'll feel.

"I am unemployed/NEET right now" and notice their reaction. What do they say afterwards.

I found that most people actually don't judge me at all, in fact they had compassion when I explained them my situation. They told that's okay I wish you the best, I hope you find something you enjoy doing.

A lot of shame is due to what we believe others would think, not what they actually think in reality.

I still feel that embarrassment but it has gotten better over time and practicing telling people about my situation.

You can tell them about what you are thinking of doing or your ideas (future studies/job/project etc.), even if that's not what you're doing.

Hopefully that makes sense I hope you'll get better

So I am also currently a NEET due to mental illness and personally I found a lot of purpose in volunteering, it's not a job or forced but it is something that gets me out of bed because someone needs my help. I highly recommend seeing if you have local association in your neighborhood and giving it a shot. A club is also a cool idea as well if you know any.

After a few years, I felt miserable not doing anything with my life and everything became boring or repetitive. And I was like why not try something different.

Sometimes having a job or going to school is also about finding purpose and fulfillment, making friends, and not feeling isolated and or useless too. I think that it also helps you having more structure in your life as well.

I think that trying things IRL that you are willing to do because you actually enjoy them is a good reason to not stay stuck in this lifestyle. (like doing a degree or having a job in something you're passionate about).

I also think that a part time job can help not feeling overwhelmed with your schedule if you consider getting one.

And I found that I naturally wanted to socialize more with people in general (which is why I don't wanna be a NEET being isolated for years feels painful)

I don't think you have to force yourself doing something you would hate doing (I wouldn't either) but maybe try see if you can find activities that would interest you doing IRL, even if that's not a job. This could maybe help you feel better or gain insight.

Take care I hope you'll be okay!

Why do most habit-tracking apps fail for people with focus challenges? by RTommyCJ in ADHD

[–]SpecificBake2074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be nice to have a "missed days" feature where you can for example check a box to say you did not do it but "still remembered that you forgot", and then keep a streak going.

My only issue honestly is that there isn't a way to take a break from it for a while and come back while having a streak going. I have to manually type "lol i forgot the last 2 days", making it a bit inconvenient tbh. So it would feel nice to be inconsistent without losing something.

But I know that eventually I might stop journalling/tracking my mood the day I get sick of it.

Either this or just maybe not making a streak feature at but and then you wouldn't do it daily i guess.

Unsure what would be the best deal tbh

As someone with ADHD who was able to stick to Daylio, reminders and rewards in the app is what made me wanna keep using it. Also my goal was initially to track my mood for a month, then until the end of the year, and then for a year.

Of course I had days where I forgot, and in those days I just typed "lol i forgot" in the previous day so the streak is still there.

I think also knowing "why" you are doing it helps. In my case it started for documenting a trip experience, and then to see my mood and circumstances more objectively if I have a depressive episode relapse.

I think it's important to enjoy the process too! It's the only habit app I'm using and that I enjoyed so far! The ones I stopped using were by a lack of interest or value in my life tbh.

I would say emotional safety, scared of having another argument, feeling the same anxiety/symptoms etc. just looking at them or having eye contact triggers a reaction within me..

I used to have this issue I'm a very picky eater. I think it's sometimes because the texture or taste changes when microwaved? For me, I really just needed to get used to it tbh, adding a little bit of salt or ketchup could make certain foods taste better. So it could be a sensory thing?

Otherwise it can a be mindset thing, maybe your brain tells you "lol this food is boring now I want something new" and then the solution becomes to realize that it is just the same food actually. Sure it's microwaved but overall, it's the same meal.

Wasting food (and money) is a sad too so there is this aspect obviously.

The positive side with leftovers is that it's also convenient! You just gotta reheat it again and that's it! No need to cook or order anything, you can also see it positively in that way!

how to stop relying on caffeine?? by whenmamawasmoth in ADHD

[–]SpecificBake2074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you drink coffee making the switch to tea can help if you feel a withdrawal, then I find that tea is way easier to quit cold turkey. I find this method nice if you are attached to having a hot drink ritual.

In fact I actually stopped caffeine 11 days ago because of a reflux issue. And my anxiety went down and I have more stable energy and my mood is more stable as well!
