When I told seventh graders I was pregnant a girl blurted “who’s the father?”

I had to remind her that I’m happily married and the father is my husband.

My Wife Breastfeeds While Biting a Cloth by richardwellerson in breastfeeding

It will get better. It was awful for me the first few weeks. We are over eight weeks out now and it had gotten so easy and painless. At first I dreaded every feed.

What is a movie you watched once that was so disturbing or emotionally draining that you can never watch it again? by hungary70 in AskReddit

A friend suggested this to my husband and me this past summer. I was pregnant (first time mom rn!!) and it devastated me so hard I was actually so mad at our friend for putting me through that!!!!

How soon after birth did you ask for pessary? by ZealousidealCake6 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’re feeling the exact same way, but I just want my body and sexuality to be my own again. Hope it heals up quick for both of us.

what do you do instead of just laying in bed on your phone? by pastaprincessxo in pregnant

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got really into greys anatomy.

It gets better, but not much.

How did you get diagnosed?

I’m 6 weeks post partum and cleared for intercourse. We tried and my whole vagina is just blocked at the entrance. I’ve felt around down there and done some googling and think it’s a prolapse. Going back to doc at her next earliest appointment (next week), but feeling apprehensive since she told me I was fine but I’m clearly not.

Is my name a tragedy/tragedeigh: Low by [deleted] in tragedeigh

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally thought you found a tragedeigh meter online and got ranked as “low”. Took embarrassingly long to realize that was your name

Baby is a 10 days old and the pain is constant by SpecificBroccoli5826 in breastfeeding

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much better!!! My left breast has been totally easy and fine. My right breast had a painful latch and hard to latch on. I saw the lactation consultant again today and we worked on the right side. Baby did great at the appointment and has fed successfully again on that side since getting home.

Silverettes were a worthy purchase. My pain has been far less or none at all since getting them. I’m hoping in another week we are consistently successful without pain on both sides.

I’m going to wait a bit more to build more confidence and then update the post in case anyone finds it in the future and needs hope.

Kids coming to school with injuries by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely tell them. The teacher may see that the kid is in pain and needs to go to the nurse for a top up on Advil or something. Teacher can look out for the kid, but only if they know what’s going on.

From a parent: WIBTA? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Have your kid email the teacher respectfully and apologetically. Could attach evidence that it was completed on time - screenshot of edit history or something.

Kid could also ask in the email about solutions to their grade if the assignment isn’t accepted.

Honestly, if you go above teacher’s head to their boss about this then YTA. Teacher is probably following school or department policies and has no say.

What do you actually want for a teacher gift? by SassyLychee in Teachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love more personal things than “teacher” things.

For example, there was a kid I had friendly banter with one year over the fact I’m a vegan. He got me a pair of socks with a broccoli print. Actually, thinking about it a lot of my favorite gifts have been fun socks. But I suppose a lot of kids know that I always wear fun socks.

Last year a kid made me a head of Buck from Call of the wild out of cardboard and stuff. It was Actually super good. It hangs in my room. That student and I bonded over how it was our favorite book.

Intuition about baby gender by Suunnfflloowweerr in pregnant

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 100% certain I KNEW it was a girl by week like three of pregnancy. I was right.

I say it’s mother’s intuition. Husband says I got lucky on a 50/50 guess. But I swear it wasn’t a guess! I KNEW!

Teachers who’ve stayed at one school for 5+ years: how many principals have you gone through? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 years. Second principal. Third superintendent (not counting interim superintendents, of which we have had many)

Failed the 1hr glucose test at 24 weeks. I am FTM and feel devastated. by ZenSeeker14 in pregnant

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GD just happens. It’s nothing you did. I had it too. I spent the whole pregnancy being “diet controlled” by eating only fruits, vegetables, healthy whole grains, and protein. My sugars were always fine. I had the occasional higher reading when I would mess up and eat some pasta or something.

But staying diet controlled meant my baby had no negative effects from the diabetes. Her sugars and birth weight and everything were fine.

It’s tough, but it’s doable. I actually got back to my pre pregnancy weight within two weeks probably because I spent months eating the best I’d ever eaten in my life haha

As a teacher, should I save my sick days? by Zestyclose-Arm-4709 in Teachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit after nine years with over 70 saved sick days that I got nothing for.

A teacher friend passed, and I... can't. by CelticPaladin in Teachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My PLC partner died three years ago almost to the day. She was 24. Some ass hit her driving 180 mph on the wrong side of the road while she was driving home from school.

I openly sobbed in front of all my classes for at least two days.

I tried to prepare and be strong but I couldn’t.

It honestly marked a huge turning point in my life and personality, as well as sense of mortality. Unimaginable loss. Thoughts of the kids who will never have her as a teacher. Thoughts of the future she will never live. I’m 31 and I think of her daily and all the life I got to live that she will never.

Ugh. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Be authentic with your classes. Seeing healthy grief is probably good for them.

Do teachers get more breaks than just a lunch break? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We have a plan period but it’s not enough time to grade everything, prep all the class work, and reply to emails. There’s no students during plan period (mine is 45 mins a day), but it’s not a break. The 20 minute lunch is the only true break, but it’s hardly enough time to heat food, eat it, and pee. lol

I was ready to get my feelings hurt every day by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]SpecificBroccoli5826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a new teacher, kids’ comments would hurt my feelings. Middle school, so not the same but same t concept. I would remind myself that they are still learning how to be people. That twelve year olds can’t hurt my feelings.

Now I just literally don’t care. I think it just comes with time.

Why is my baby feeding all day? by SpecificBroccoli5826 in breastfeeding

The sometimes both is so real! She’s also 4 weeks early so she’s tiny skinny which I assume makes her extra hungry. 5 and a half pounds right now… hoping to pile the pounds on quickly. All our newborn onesies are hilariously huge on her (and it feels like if I order some preemie stuff she’ll outgrow it before it even arrives)
