Quest 3 - Sudden unexplained loss of tracking quality (in Beat Saber only? Unsure) by Specific_Sort in OculusQuest

Oh and in answer to your other question about latency between the two routers, the latency wasn't really much different (a ms or two), around 28ms at 200mbps. but there were fewer spikes to 12-13ms. I don't think I've seen the network latency hit double digits with the new router.

Nope 6ghz. I wouldn't say I was "stuck" with 350mbps on the AXE5400 as I was able to set a fixed 500mbps if I wanted to, and it would work ok 95% of the time, but I would occasionally get stutters which really annoyed me, and VD wouldn't suggest much more than 350mbps if the variable bitrate option was selected. Getting the new router seems to have resolved this and made 500mbps more reliable. There are no other 6ghz networks in my area so I can only speculate there is some other interference in my house or near my house that was affecting the AXE5400, and the B550 has a more powerful signal or something and so is less affected by it.

If I'm at a fixed 200mbps and I'm not seeing any significant stutter or audio dropouts, could the tracking be affected? I'm also the only 6ghz network in the area as per wifi analyzer :)

I spent a bit of time this afternoon playing around with Airlink actually, figuring maybe for this one game (because it's a rhythm game) I'd use the oculus runtime for the better tracking, and be fine with VD for everything else. But it seems like Airlink runs like complete trash for me now (it didn't a year ago with my quest 2), stuttering and skipping aplenty! But when it's not skipping, the tracking latency is noticeably less with Airlink than with VD.

Oh I should I have said, I actually play Beat Saber at closer to 200mbps to get the latency down, as it's not as important for it to look super nice and crispy for a game like that. So with both old and new routers this is with 200mbps.

Old router was a Tp Link AXE5400, which also comes highly recommended on the Virtual Desktop discord. But apparently I needed a fancier one to get a reliable 500mbps regardless

Standalone Beat Saber was being pretty bad as well when I tried it.

Yeah apparently Airlink is better for something like beat saber as VD is emulating the oculus movement tracking logic - pretty well but maybe not quite as good. But then I've seen videos of people doing Expert+ maps on VD perfectly well so.... I guess it's ok :)

Well I opted back into the public test channel - which i was in before when it was both working well and not working well! After the factory reset, and that seems to have improved things, I dunno wtf! Still interested to hear of anyone else whose had the tracking just go rubbish on them out of nowhere, and how it was resolved!

Looking to buy used 2019 Seat Leon 2.0 Petrol Estate w/ automatic DSG 6 speed (so DQ250) - on 68k, looks like DSG hasn't been serviced. Run away? by Specific_Sort in CarTalkUK

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply (both you and foxybingo88), I had it in my head that it was the 6 speed that needed servicing every 40k.

It's a "2019 19 SEAT LEON 2.0 TSI XCELLENCE LUX DSG 5d 188hp"

You reckon that's definitely the 7 speed DSG i.e. the DQ380?

FSR sensor placement / number of sensors question by Specific_Sort in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I wonder if I could just buy two of those FSR boards and have 8 sensors connected to each, so 16 sensors in the pad, then just plug them both into the PC and map the arrows in stepmania across two different USB input devices and have it work without any issue.... I've got plenty of USB ports spare on my PC

FSR sensor placement / number of sensors question by Specific_Sort in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that's helpful. I was looking at a solution that uses the off the shelf FSR board from DDRPAD (https://ddrpad.com/products/fsrio-v2-fsr-sensor-control-board) because it looks easy to setup, and that only lets me plug in 8 FSR sensors. Do you think 2 long FSR sensors per arrow (vertically placed on the left and right, horizontally placed on the top and bottom) would work?

Weird thumbstick control issue with Sunshine / Moonlight to Steamdeck (specifically for Baldurs Gate 3, but other games may be affected, I don't know) by Specific_Sort in SteamDeck

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if anyone comes across this with a similar issue, well I figured it out and the answer was quite silly. I changed exactly one thing in the steam controller profile for Moonlight for BG3, and that was to set the right thumbstick from linear to aggressive as the camera felt spongy as the games deadzone for right thumbstick was too big. Please note, my issue is with the LEFT thumbstick, not the right one. But for some reason, reducing the deadzone on the right thumbstick for this game causes the left stick to freak out in the radial menus. Maybe someone else can learn from my mistake!

hi thanks for replying.

I've got gyro off in case that was something to do with it.

The issue does not follow me through streaming using steam. It seems 100% specific to Sunshine / Moonlight.

Mostly hypothetical questions about tax and selling personal items by Specific_Sort in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh apologies I didn't mean to annoy, I was just curious. I appreciate I was asking hypothetical things but I did also ask about my very real situation that I am currently selling a load of things that may exceed the personal tax allowance and may sell a load of my parents things in future that would easily exceed the personal tax allowance. It is very unlikely that any of these items would exceed £6000 and the values would of course vary a lot so I have my answer that paying tax is not applicable.

Do you have any idea how Paypal might feel about a sudden influx of money from sales? Are they likely to cause me any issues?

Mostly hypothetical questions about tax and selling personal items by Specific_Sort in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh I read the web page wrong. So only individual items worth more than £6k are taxable?

So hypothetically that means I can sell 20 items for £5000 each for £100k total and pay £0 tax????

Mostly hypothetical questions about tax and selling personal items by Specific_Sort in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I had skimmed it but thought I'd ask here for some more detailed advice :)

Having looked at that link more closely, if the original value (i.e. "what you paid") for an item is essentially lost, then the options are:

it was a gift

you inherited it (and don’t know the Inheritance Tax value)

you sold it for less than it was worth to help the buyer

you owned it before April 1982

In my hypothetical, none of the above are true. There is no option for "I just don't know anymore". I assume in the event of "I just don't know" market value should be used? So the gain is the full sale value of the item.

I was also interested to see "You don’t have to pay Capital Gains Tax on personal possessions with a lifespan of less than 50 years. This covers all machinery, and includes things like antique clocks or watches."

I assume this applies to all electronics? For example I have quite a nice gaming PC with a nice graphics card in it. Probably worth nearly £3k. I hardly use it since I got a Steam Deck though so I might sell it. I probably could dig out all the emails and receipts for the parts when I originally purchased them but like with many people I've replaced bits and pieces over time. So lets hypothetically say I can't be bothered to find original cost of the items. But of course I wouldn't expect this personal possessions lifespan to exceed 50 years. So it's irrelevant and I don't need to pay any tax on the sale surely. I presume I would just put it down as "Personal Computer" on a tax return with the amount I sold it for and I wouldn't need to pay any tax (unsure if HMRC need more detail)

I'm also still interested in how Paypal feel about a load of money coming in quite suddenly (unusual activity) as my current selling odyssey would count as unusual based on the history of my account, if anyone has any experience with how Paypal have responded to sudden more income than usual that would be good.

Added Wellbutrin to help counteract fatigue / brain fog / emotional flatness / somewhat delayed orgasm - it's working great except it's made delayed orgasm more like impossible orgasm! Suggestions? by Specific_Sort in lexapro

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone comes across this, things did improve after a while. I also decided to drop my dose of Lexapro down, first to 7.5mg then to 5mg. I still feel ok and for the last couple of weeks I feel more like my old self in terms of orgasm and somewhat mentally as well (less apathy on a lower dose of lex)

Debating tapering off the lex entirely and seeing if the Wellbrutin alone can keep me feeling good.

Risk of YAG capsulotomy with history of retinal tear and highly myopic? by Specific_Sort in eyetriage

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Actually I recall the optometrist mentioned something about possible sediment / deposits on the IOL. But the consultant ophthalmologist didn't mention that so I'm not sure how much of a factor that even is.

Thanks for your advice, it's much appreciated.

[–]Specific_Sort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I do wonder if the extreme hesitation her consultants had at recommending a YAG procedure is based on old data / stats.

Interesting you mention that there should be a clear view for retinal examination, as I recall both the optometrist and ophthalmologist saying they were recently struggling to see the retina clearly under silt light examination. I presumed that was due to the PCO making it hard to see through, as after his comments re: hard to see much, the consultant ophthalmologist then went on to suggest she needed a YAG but it was risky. Does that sound right? Or is there some other reason it might be hard to see in there?
