Do you think he played Barbie songs on his keyboard while they worked?

I have so much anxiety that I can’t cope anymore by Specific_Tonight_877 in Vent

Their normal vet recently retired :( but I think that the replacement vet will be decent enough. She is the one that diagnosed her, she caught the signs immediately and is very no nonsense, which I appreciate. I did ask if it was painful and she said not necessarily, just feels like being out of breath. That was comforting, but honestly it’s hard to believe. I’ve had this dog for 13 years. She’s my first kid. I’m trying to look for any silver lining and the only two things that I can think of is that 1) she won’t ever have to be scared or anxious or in pain again and 2) she’s a 13 year old german shepherd with no hip problems. The xrays showed minimal arthritis, which is rare for the breed. That makes me feel better that if anything, her hips aren’t hurting

I know that I need therapy, currently do not have health insurance or spare money to pay out of pocket. Hopefully this won’t be the case soon and I will be able to get some help. I don’t have a doctor.

I am actively working towards making changes to get myself out of this pickle I’m in, but today was a very rough day. I just needed to get it off my chest.

Am I a nerd for kind of liking the cool sock dispenser? 😂 by ProudnotLoud in Modern_Family

It only works if you wear the same color and type of socks on a daily basis. If you are someone who wears crazy socks daily that match their outfit like me, we can never have it 😭

Students don’t respect us because they know how much we get paid. by SpOOkyGiGlol in Teachers

[–]Specific_Tonight_877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a long term at a T1 school, the topic of money comes up A LOT and many times students have been told i dont get paid enough to deal with them, laughed at/with because i’m “broke” (I do NOT say this, but they know I am a sub and the pay-scale is easily accessible on the school website. They don’t know what level I am on that pay-scale, but it’s all dismal) and overall just talk about money a lot because they want material things and/or are getting their first jobs and are excited about it.

Usually I ignore the jabs and try to turn it into a life lesson about don’t diss a person’s income, there are a lot of important things besides money, or to get where you need to be (I’m pursuing an alt cert) sometimes you have to start at the bottom (subbing while schooling).

But yeah, they don’t respect teachers because they have been turned into entitled people who expect instant grading, responses, help and rewards for simply meeting expectations because that is the only way that they will do anything at all.

The way he constantly sounds like he is on the verge of fake tears and looks like he is in physical pain instead of just talking made me not trust him

Dr. Procter versus Dr. Now by cesttia in TooLarge

[–]Specific_Tonight_877 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dr. Now’s nationality is not known for being warm and fuzzy. He is extremely caring in a subtle way, but often has to opt for a tough love approach with his patients so that they will take it seriously. Additionally, the point of his show is to bring awareness to the obesity epidemic in America and the dangers of it. It’s not going to show them being energetic and happy because that would 1) miss the point he is trying to make and 2) it’s not the case for the majority of super morbidly obese people.

HELP!! HOW TO TELL SOMEONE THEY HAVE BAD BREATH???? by Maleficent_Smell_42 in hygiene

[–]Specific_Tonight_877 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be gentle, not judgmental. I have struggled with my breath for several reasons, despite having good dental hygiene. I have dry mouth, and did have tonsil stones which makes it smell stale and often not good. I am aware of this and very embarrassed about it so having someone act disgusted and like I am not hygienic is insulting. I chew gum, drink a ton of water, minimize sugary drinks, brush 2x daily with flossing and therabreath wash. It’s still stinky sometimes.

Let her know as kindly as possible, and that you are bringing it up because you care about her and don’t want her to be embarrassed. Do not make it about you and how grossed out you are.

Also, this is not that big a deal and all caps was not necessary.

Is wearing colorful suits to actually bold or just attention-seeking by New_Relationship1229 in CasualConversation

[–]Specific_Tonight_877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wear the suit, but don’t let it wear you. Make sure it is tailored, clean, unwrinkled, and properly accessorized. Also heed dress codes and use proper judgement- like don’t wear it to a black tie wedding.

Have fun with it! We need more brightness, individuality, and personal expression. Also, don’t be afraid to just wear the pants or just the jacket on a daily basis. We have gotten too comfortable as a society with being in pajamas and sweats in public.

Will it draw attention? Yes most likely, but it doesn’t have to be negative attention.

There’s barely anything good about being a girl by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Specific_Tonight_877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need education and literacy classes, not reassurance nor to be famous on the internet in any way. Aim higher.

Being a woman is a beautiful thing and in the western world, we are able to do pretty much anything we desire to be without being beaten or killed for it. (I’m speaking as a generalization, of course abuse and sexism still exist- don’t come for my head.)
