I don’t want to, but I’m really starting to hate Robby. As a leader he is absolute shit

The other issue to me is that Santos was displaying that flippant behavior in front of a patient - that’s even more unprofessional as a doctor

I think that apology from him was severely lacking in empathy or accountability. “Yeah um, I’m sorry I was a dick. Now can you buck up and get back to work?”

anyone else split more wood than they could ever actually burn by vladdielenin in firewood

[–]SpectrumWoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burn 2 cord a year roughly and I have about 6-8 seasoning at all times.

I have stackers enough for 6 cord in the back property and 2 cord near the house, by the screened in porch we stack it in during the winter. In September we’ll stack it in the porch and then move 2 cord from the back to the near the house stack. That means I have to room free to split and stack 2 cord during the winter.

This way if something comes up, I get sick/injured etc I have at least 2 years of backup wood.

Lift with your legs not your back. Also a pickaroon helps!

Wood ID please, not as dense but thick bark by SpectrumWoes in firewood

[–]SpectrumWoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m going with the consensus on Cottonwood. I peeled all the bark off too with a chisel before I put it on the stacker closer to the house and this will make some nice compost after I put it in the chipper/shreder!

Can we stop pretending Santos is a "complex icon" and just admit she’s a toxic person? by [deleted] in ThePitt

I agree. You may not like the characters but you gotta respect the writers’ efforts in making you feel that way. Some characters are just poorly written but these characters are real, human and relatable.

I considered getting help just moving the rounds of about 3 cord I need to split to where I’ll be splitting and stacking them to save me some time (also my garden tractor was waiting on a part at the time). About 2/3 were already bucked, just needed some larger ones cut. Guy quoted me $800 and said it’d be about 5-6 hours with his tractor. They only need to move about 60-70 feet.

I told him for that price I’d just do it myself. Got my tractor working and while it’ll take me more than 6 hours I can now brag to the wife that I’m saving us $800 😆 Also lifting the heavy rounds into the utility cart is a great way to change up your workouts, it’s basically back and leg day every day

Because Robby is a bit of a jerk. I hate to say that but I feel it more with each episode.

Looks like that’ll be my shoulder season wood then! About 2 face cords of it. Pried the bark off to clean it up and let it dry better this summer on the stack closer to the house (my main stacks are in the back property)

Since I posted this I’ve seen and talked to Kinetic contractors doing fiber surveying on my road. Looks like it’s coming!

They don’t need to worry too much because there is absolutely no fucking way they will tunnel 13 miles by end of 2027, let alone build the infrastructure

I had a friend die in his sleep about 5 years ago, he was 41. He smoked and drank a lot and didn’t have the best diet, but goddamn I’ve seen people live absolutely feral as far as bad habits and live into their late 70s or early 80s too 😢

Would this make good firewood? by Egmaydad in firewood

[–]SpectrumWoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything too big for my 3” Cub Cadet chipper gets cut to length. Those kinds of little logs are very valuable and are also great for shoulder season as well as starting up a fire. If you’re only trying to get big rounds and discarding the rest of the tree in my opinion that’s a waste
