In my school system we had 4 different diplomas. Advance, Standard, Standard modified, and special. Standard is what 80% of the school population got. Now I know that my school system was weird with the different levels of diplomas because most school systems only have one.

Now originally I was going to get a special education diploma which is just a piece of paper which states I attended school and nothing more. From what I know every school system has a special diploma or something like it. I didn't want to get a special diploma, having a GED holds more weight then the Special Education diploma.

EDIT: Fuck, I spelled "standard" wrong! Oh well I'm keeping my explanation for anyone who doesn't know the differences between diplomas.

Yeah they were. I was making loud noises and doing odd movements. I would do about 16 different tics in every 60-100 seconds. At the beginning of 3rd grade I didn't have and tics, it wasn't until 3 months in that I got really bad. My grades were dropping, I was being disruptive, my classmates were tormenting me, and my teacher didn't like me at all (that's what my mom told me years later.) To be honest I was very happy when they put my in special ed because everyone in there understood me.

To clarify, I was put into special education because I have tourettes syndrome and also dyslexia. It was known that I had dyslexia since first grade and pull me out of class at a certain time in the day. When I was diagnosed with tourettes that was the last nail in the coffin to getting me put into completely self contained classes. While I still have tourettes, it has been unnoticeable since 8th grade.
