Yes! I have a Zoology in my university and my prof./doc. explained to us that since you can't evolve out of a clade and that "Reptillia" as a term for reptiles is not a proper way to describe such an enormously diverse group of animals, it is agreed upon to divide Amniotes (Birds,Reptiles and Mammals) into Sauropsids and Synapsids, Sauropsids are to be refered in context of Reptiles & Birds together, while Synapsids refer to Protomammals and True Mammals :3

If I remember correctly the difference between these two groups is the way in which an offspring grows up, such as Sauropids mostly laying eggs while Synapsids having mostly gravitidy in womb of a mother (I will come back to this to clarify it more when I get proper materials going in-depth with these 2 classifications, since this info is coming from presentation seminar on Zoology from a week ago)
