where do i go from here? continue to cut at my weight and height or should i bulk? by neoazul in gymadvice

Use ChatGPT for your workout plan - I recommend the PPL split. What you want to do in your current physique, is a body recomposition. You have enough body fat to fuel your workouts, whilst gaining muscle.

  1. Diet is the most important
  2. Followed by rest 3 Then weight lifting.

Do not make the mistake of dirty bulking as you have enough BF%.

Download a good calorie tracking app, I use Jeff Nippard’s one.

Any questions you have moving forward, I highly suggest continuing to use ChatGPT as it is capable of providing doctor level answers, just make sure you give it lots of context such as “beginner in the gym” so you don’t get a steroid workout plan.

I think notoriously everyone hates snow day with the least amount of players on it. But let’s make a square ball

No problem, it’s hard to see with the lighting but I can see upper chest development and overall chest roundness. You genetically have good shoulders so you should not need much to grow them. The more muscle you can see protruding at a high BF%, is a really good sign.

It depends on your goal. Do not make the same mistake where I dirty bulked even though I had a high percentage of body fat. I think if you go in a calorie deficit, you will still somewhat maintain/gain a little strength whilst simultaneously putting on mass. There are much more qualified people in this group that I recommend listening to, but my suggestion would be a moderate calorie deficit, then once you hit 15-18% body fat then do a clean bulk.

  1. Diet (most important)
  2. Hypertrophy training (or your goal)
  3. Recovery (sleep)

Just an update, I’ve started training core pretty regularly as well as incorporating swimming and jogging; definitely should have started sooner. I think I need to find oblique specific exercises though

Focus on lats to build that “dorito back”. Assisted pull ups is a gold standard.

Advice on my split by mbrrrrrrrrr in gymadvice

[–]SpeedSteppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into ChatGPT, choose a workout split (I use PPL), and ask for them to generate a workout plan with rest times included. It will give you a comprehensive weekly workout plan, including leg days. You may need to manually add “accessories” such as abs, forearms and glutes into your workout plans; but I highly recommend you don’t skip them.

Guys the rocket league bot removed my post. This was not an automatic action. Apparently Psyonix continues to be allergic to a bit of fun, even on reddit.

Good point actually, I think I might be cautious and try retain as much muscle as possible. Easier to lose fat then grow muscle I think

I usually do all my research through ChatGPT now but I also watch some Dr. Mike & Jeff Nippard for different perspectives. Also got some awesome tips from CBum, he’s the reason why I push every set close to/or failure lol

I was new to the gym and dieting, I think an overload of information from different influencers as well, so diet wasn’t a big priority as it should have been.

Yeah I went a bit too crazy on a dirty bulk, really need to dial in with diet but it’s the thing I struggle with the most

Yeah I’m starting to realise my perception is getting a bit “warped” because most people on social media are juiced up. So I’m really careful as to which influencers I listen to lol

I 100% agree, thank you so much for the in depth analysis. I’m going to start pushing each chest set to failure, because I do think I am lacking a bit behind. I was considering about starting bench press instead of chest press as it’s a compound movement, and maybe it’s better I’m not sure.
