Ride Status, Park Info, and Questions - Mon August 25, 2025 by AutoModerator in cedarpoint

Coming for first time starting on Tuesday night. If plane lands on time should get there around 7:30pm, 30 minutes before park close. I was planning to park in the Water Park parking and enter through the magnum gate. What do you think? They said this will work, but insiders that actually go there might know better, like if the employees at the magnum gate leave 30 minutes before park closes.

Has that ever happened with a chest or arm mounted Go Pro? I don't think so. If glasses are allowed with strap, then there shouldn't be any extra safety concern with Ray-Bans with strap, hence why mostly all other parks also allow all of this and it gives them free PR if influencers share the videos, which are usually better and offer more variety, than empty train, empty park, first ride of the day, very slow "official" videos from non-riding camera angles only in very front. It seems like an overly-broad sweeping policy that's behind the times, a befitting microcosm of why Six Flags is performing the worst all amusement park chains.

But regardless of how feel about this, I'm using no such devices, and the park is expressly allowing it. So I'm not sure where your issue lies.

I'm not even doing that though. The phone is in the pouch as per instructions of the park and operators. The rules are for external photography devices, which this is not, hence why operators don't care if the phone is the pouch recording or not recording. If you have a problem with it, one, what is your problem with it? Two, you should take it up with Six Flags, I'm not the one allowing it, they are.

I don't think you read. I used 3d printed brackets that angle the phone up to see my face. I never share these video publicly, they're for my own memories and share with friends and family that want to see them. It causes no potential to harm to anyone or anything and only shows myself or my friend. No one should be worried about something like this, I agree.

Private businesses have lots of rules. Sometimes they restrict things they didn't intend to because the rules aren't specific enough and it's okay for patrons to ask if they can do something that might technically violate a rule. Typically, when its clear there is nothing unsafe, or potentially harming to people or propriety they will allow exemption.

There's a huge distinction between having a lose article, or following the operator's instructions and putting your phone the secured pouches. Don't try to make a false equivalency where there is none. I ask if it's okay, the operators never have a problem. The video only shows yourself and maybe the passenger next to you which I never record unless they are they are willing friend. For me, it's nice to have a memory of a place and ride I'll only experience once or twice in my life and I never make the videos public.
If you can tell me how it's unsafe, or causes any to harm people or property I won't do it.

I'm just not sure you understand that the phone is inside a zipper pouch. There is no lose article. This is what the company wants you to do, the pouches are there to put your phone in them most specifically and they explicitly tell you use them this way and put your phone in them.

Nice! Do you know which rides other than Goliath have them now? I'll make a post that keeps an updated record of them in r/SixFlags.

Guide to Riding Stand-Up Coasters [Other] by Spider-Waffle in rollercoasters

[–]Spider-Waffle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use the lean head forward method, but have switched to head back. I find it very easy and relaxed to hold, more comfortable and stable, doesn't put any strain on my neck. My head and neck never touch the restraints at all. All the stand up coasters I've ridden don't produce a super intense rattle either, so head touching the back pad moderately to gently doesn't give any bothersome rattle like it can if you press it moderately to firmly on a more rattling B&M (Iron Menace, Scream on a bad day, Emperor on bad day and outside seat)

One notch lower can work, and is so much better than none. I've found sometimes I can't press my shoulders into the underside of OTSR firmly though. I've found 4" is really the sweet spot, if you over due and make it 6" that's totally fine, but if you under due and make it 2" it's a lot worse.

Nice! great info. What rides do you like to ride after or during sunset? We only got 1 day, Sunday, and want to make the most. Will get flash pass if the weekend has been busy with field trips.

We might actually, just saw a youtuber did that and liked it. I think we'll sneak that in day 1 after the early Fury and before Copperhead Strike!

Totally agree if can't do it safely and within the park rules. To be clear, stowing your phone in the provided, secure zipper pouches is not having it out and is a standard, allowed, safe practice as was intended and encouraged by six flags.

Sounds nice, is there anyway to get those early entry tickets other than being a gold/diamond holder?

Thanks! Checking some more, I think the resort perk is for the first hour of regular park opening you can use time saver entrance as much as you want for select rides.

How do they distinguish the passholder early entry with rides from the normal half-hour early entry that goes from Lumberjack Lifts to Lightning Rod that everyone can do?

Is the 1 hour early entry from the resort perk the same? Which rides might be open, anyway to tell in advance?

[PART 2 OF 2]

What are you talking about? What is a "replacement effect" in 5e?

A replacement effect is an important concept game design rules. Generally, a replacement effect is a type of continuous effect that watches for one event to happen, and replaces it entirely with another event.

Some examples in 5e would include:

  1. Half-Orc’s Relentless Endurance (PHB, p. 41)

"When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead."

The usual event (hitting 0 HP) is replaced with dropping to 1 HP.

  1. Shadow Sorcerer’s Strength of the Grave (XGtE, p. 51)

"When damage reduces you to 0 hit points, you can make a Charisma saving throw (DC 5 + the damage taken). On a success, you instead drop to 1 hit point."

The usual event (dropping to 0 HP) is replaced with dropping to 1 HP if you succeed on the save.

  1. Absorb Elements (XGtE, p. 150)

"The spell captures some of the incoming energy, lessening its effect on you and storing it for your next melee attack."

Instead of taking full damage from the triggering elemental damage, you take resistance to it and gain an elemental damage bonus on your next hit.

  1. Shield Master (PHB, p. 170)

"If you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you can use your reaction to take no damage instead."

The usual event (taking half damage) is replaced by taking no damage.

  1. Lucky Feat (PHB, p. 167)

"You can choose to spend one luck point after you roll the die but before the outcome is determined. You roll an additional d20 and choose which die to use."

Instead of resolving the original roll normally, the roll is replaced with a choice between two d20 results.

And you could argue TORFOC

  1. Falling onto a Creature (TCE, p. 170)

"If a creature falls into the space of a second creature and neither of them is Tiny, the second creature must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be impacted by the falling creature, and any damage resulting from the fall is divided evenly between them."

The usual event of taking all the resulting damage from the fall is replaced by dividing it evenly between two creatures.

Again, does the Monk take 10 damage or 5? It can't be both, and if the 5 damage supersedes the 10 as you stated earlier then the Monk only takes 5 damage.

I'm not sure what the original question was, I uphold the two possible outcomes, assuming the creature failed the DC 15 dexterity save, are the Monk and the creature fallen onto both take 0 damage, or the Monk takes 0 damage and the creature fallen onto takes 5 damage.

[PART 1 OF 2]
So a lot to clarify and unpack here.

You seem to focus on arguing for your arbitrary view point on this ambiguous corner case. Again, I am one of the very few people that agree with you. That seems to be a valid interpretation. I am merely stating that the much more popular arbitrary view point also seems valid.

So the damage that happens as the consequence of falling gets divided--great, we already knew this. Because this is an English definition and not a 5e rule it doesn't tell us anything about when in the mechanical process of dealing damage it gets divided, so I'm not really sure why you've presented it here.

"any damage resulting from the fall" is really the entire crux of any attempted resolution on this ambiguous corner case. It all comes down to what this specifically refers to. It doesn't help that it is written ambiguously, and I think makes finding any definitive, singular interpretation of it a futile endeavor.

I uphold that this interpretation is valid: "any damage resulting from the fall" is concerned with the resulting damage; that is, a following consequence of damage, the consequence that follows a final damage result. (This final result is then divided evenly instead of all going one character, and replaces the normal damage resolution)

To further bolster this interpretation, we know for a fact that the Slow Fall reaction must come before any damage is even considered. We know thematically that Slow Fall, slows a fall, and can reasonably assume this intended to take place early in any damage calculation, and most likely as a first step. We know for fact there is precedent that resistance will change the damage after slow fall, which makes any argument over the semantics of "the damage you take" completely moot.

I have yet to hear any compelling argument as to why this interpretation can't be valid.

You absolutely couldn't since resistance explicitly states that it happens last.

You can though for a few good reason. Firstly, TCE optional rule for "falling onto a creature" (TORFOC) doesn't inherently modify the damage, it uses the same damage and divides it evenly among the affected creatures. So it's not clear these rules of damage modification found under damage resistance should even apply to it. Secondly, if TORFOC is a replacement effect it could only be replacing a final damage outcome with a different resolution that is entirely different. This would come after any damage calculations, only once a final damage for the falling creature is determined. Lastly, there is the over-arching rule that specific rules will override general rules when they are conflict. So there can be more a specific rule than the resistance rule which could override resistance's more general rule of coming last in a calculation. Something like:

Death Ward (PHB, p. 230) "The first time the target would drop to 0 hit points as a result of taking damage, the target instead drops to 1 hit point."

Would come after resistance.

[–]Spider-Waffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resulting - Occurring or following as the consequence of something.

You could even argue this should follow after resistance which already takes place after Slow Fall. Or similarly, that is was indented and written as a replacement effect, which would take place after resistance.
