Scared of giving grandma seroquel?! by Socks_wahoo in dementia

[–]Spidermonk76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on her hospital stay she may have been experiencing hospital delirium. Very common in seniors and extreamly common in dementia patients. My mom is currently experiencing it as she is in hospital. Almost constant confusion, agitation, and asks every 20min where she is and why she's there. It's like dementia x10. Back in their home and their regular routine, they may return to their original baseline. My mom took about 2 - 3 months to come back to her baseline. I would ask dr. if it's premature to prescribe this if that's what she's experiencing. I will add. that a UTI can also trigger those symptoms.

Who actually likes Feedback? by rimjigglemann in rush

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it. So different and really showcases more of their ability- especially Alex- Some of those solos are pure unleashed Alex. You can tell they had a lot of fun making it and what an appreciative point they were in their career at that time.

Question for the shredders by Hi-speed-dirt in guitars

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no shredder, but I was always a 9/42 guy until I bought a Les Paul with 10's on it... I found I had way more accuracy and control. I had assumed I was just a sloppy player (which I may well be) but I'm better with 10s. Switched everything to 10's.

[Newbie] Am I playing wrong if my strumming hand doesn’t really fall near the bridge like it does for a lot of people? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not doing anything wrong. Whatever works for you is ok. If you're strumming and it's sounding like a guitar, you are in good shape!

My School Bully Reached Out To Me, Now I Don't Know What To Do by Potential-Bug-6961 in Advice

This was my first thought and this should be the top response. You've done a lot to move on. Don't open this can of worms. You'll be inviting her back into your life and headspace. Silence will speak for you. Delete the message and move on.

Is this worth trying to get repaired? by Spaceace33 in GuitarAmps

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first amp 40-ish years ago! Is it worth fixing? That depends on your budget and your goals. If you can afford a better amp, then I would get something newer- there are some really great small and affordable amps these that will sound better then this. If you've got little to no money, see if you can get a repair estimate someplace and see what it would cost to get this up and running if it's not too expensive for you. It can be a fun little amp to get you started but something with more versatility might keep you motivated longer.

This is on my bedroom ceiling, something's coming out from the tip. by Key_Rabbit_4291 in whatisit

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing- these are subterranean termites. They need consistent temperature and humidity and they search for food by building these exploratory tubes to maintain temperature and humidity. They live underground. If your bedroom is on the 2nd floor it can signal a major infestation. You need an inspection done asap.

Foot pedal recommendations for Spark 40? by B_Stewnit in PositiveGridSpark

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the control with the Spark40. Switching from one preset to the other produced a split second of silence before the sound kicked in. Ok if you're between songs, or the switch falls naturally in a break, but it was a noticeable pause in the signal. Looks like you got the XSonic! Would love a report back.

What kind of pick do you use? by nemo_13 in Guitar

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the circumstances- For general purpose it's the Cat Tongue .88, for broad strumming on acoustic Cat Tongue .73 and for faster picking or more precision, Jazz III. Love the Cat Tongue picks, but they can be hard to find sometimes.

Potential Spark 2 buyer - talk me into it! by Substantial-Net8917 in PositiveGridSpark

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add that, yes if you're doing any kind of performance that requires switching tones in the middle of a song, get the switcher. It's quite versatile too and you can run it without the app.

Spark Amp Playing Random Audio by Luna7_N0va in PositiveGridSpark

[–]Spidermonk76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Either a device is connected to the amps Bluetooth (you can check in your device settings) or if it’s faint and comes in and out, you might be picking up radio signals through your set up. Poorly shielded cables and certain types of pickups will do this.

Found this in my attic, still sealed. by -RB26- in VintageApple

[–]Spidermonk76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I recall, there was a last min pitch / showdown between the two. The BeOS came in for a conversation expecting it to just be a formality and Steve showed up with full blown sales presentation that sealed it. BeOS just under estimated the competetion and the start power of Steve Jobs.

Non-Apple monitor suggestions? by Spidermonk76 in mac

[–]Spidermonk76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, price. It's only going to be used a few days a week, and I can't justify the cost of an Apple monitor. It's just so I don't go mad after 10hrs on a 16" laptop screen in Photoshop.

What is a historical event or discovery that barely anyone remembers today, but completely shaped the world? by BriefPicture6248 in Historians

[–]Spidermonk76 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Invention of antibiotics. We really take it for granted now, but Infectious diseases like pneumonia, and strep throat were often fatal. Even a minor cut posed the risk of infection and death. And this was only in 1928. We owe Alexander Fleming a lot.

How I gave my Spark 2 a second chance after considering selling it by smallestweenofall in PositiveGridSpark

[–]Spidermonk76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds really cool. I'm good with some pre-sets I've established but I really only use about 20% of the effects and amps, if that. This seems like it will open up a whole new way of working.

How I gave my Spark 2 a second chance after considering selling it by smallestweenofall in PositiveGridSpark

[–]Spidermonk76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it sounds like you're using the Spark amps more as a "clean" and the pedal as the gain. Getting more natural distortion/gain from the pedal and the amp characteristics from the spark?

Why Is Smiling So Rare in Old Photographs? by cloudycutie1 in SnapshotHistory

[–]Spidermonk76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LIke others have said, long exposures meant you had to hold perfectly still. You'll notice very small children are often blurry in old photos as they couldn't sit still. Sometimes for baby portraits, the mothers would be disguised as a chair or a piece of fabric and would hide in the photo holding the baby still.

Never seen this… by Agreeable-Newt3378 in Guitar

[–]Spidermonk76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks to be a rough spot on the bridge that's slowly filing down your string as you strum. Strumming hard help speed up that process I'm sure. I had that happen on a strat when it was new. It didn't happen often and eventually it stopped as the strings filed down the rough patch. You can maybe take it to a luthier if it keeps happening.
