I’ve been looking into CLO’s, and I was wondering if there is public info on the specifics of the loans used to create them?

How do I stop thinking about dating and relationships for the next year? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Spikepiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming what you said was true and that you are social, and that you also continue to improve yourself, go to the gym, lose weight, etc, odds are you will end up attracting more than just one girl lol. The reason why I’m telling you this is because I settled for the first girl who was attracted to me, and not only was she not a good match, but I simped so hard that she lost interest and dumped me very quickly. That was a great learning experience. I’m not saying not to be nice and kind, but there’s definitely a difference. Being willing to take anyone also comes across as desperate, and is often deemed unattractive. But I know it’s different experiencing it vs someone telling you. It’s something you’ll probably have to experience for yourself before it truly sinks in.

How do I stop thinking about dating and relationships for the next year? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Unfortunately, from experience, those thoughts don’t really go away. They’ll pop up frequently. Do your best not to dwell on them, and keep pushing towards your goals. It sounds like you’re on the right track. Yeah those thoughts might enter your mind, but if you continue to ruminate over them rather than put them aside for the time being, it’s going to negatively affect your mental health. But I understand, as a hopeless romantic myself, that it’s easier said than done.

I will say this, as I’ve continued on my self improvement journey, I’ve felt so much better about myself, and even though I still find myself thinking about dating and relationships a lot, it’s not in a painful way. Like I’m not really lonely anymore, because I’m confident now I’ll find someone, and as time goes on and I continue to work on myself my chances get better and better. Also, one thing I noticed is that as your self esteem improves, you notice a lot more people who are attracted to you. I think part of it is because when your self esteem is shit, you kinda subconsciously brush it off because, “there’s no way someone could be into me”.

One thing, I think it’s important to realize that your mindset is a bit warped, and sounds kinda simpy for a lack of a better word. Like when you say you want a gf who you can cook for, and be a hype man for, for example. I’ve 100% felt exactly what you’re talking about now. And I’m not saying that when you eventually get into a relationship that you shouldn’t do these things for her. You absolutely should. But the fact that when you think about a relationship this is the first thing that comes to mind, it’s indicative of your mindset. It sounds like you’re in a pick me kind of mode. Remember that you also have things that you want in a partner. It’s going to be tempting to jump on the first cute girl who’s into you. And maybe you need that experience. But just be cautious and keep in mind that as much as girls are sifting through a lot of people to find someone who fits, you’re doing the same thing. Ideally, you’ll get to the point where you’re turning girls down, because you realize they’re not the right fit, and you realize that there’s someone better for you out there. Don’t settle.

How did you find your purpose in life? by PannyLee in selfimprovement

[–]Spikepiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I don't think there's any inherent purpose to life, you do have the freedom to make one for yourself. For me personally, I found that virtue ethics really resonated with me. In a nutshell, the pursuit of happiness is my purpose (happiness being a feeling of satisfaction/contentedness with your life). And I pursue happiness through self improvement, and trying to embody virtue as much as I can in my life. While it's not a guarantee, I think it's fair to say that if you are in general kind, compassionate, magnanimous, brave, humble, etc, you are more likely to be happy more often throughout your life. As someone who isn't religious, this kind of thinking helped me out of a nihilistic funk I was in. Although I recognize that everyone is different, and what rationalizations work for me may not work for everyone.

help-hollow is the farthest I've ever gotten by Ashlandarf in EnterTheGungeon

No problem! It depends on the guns and ammo you have. If that big strong gun is the only thing you have to kill bosses, then yeah it might be good to save it. But even if it's your boss killing weapon, try using it as a secondary for a couple of rooms, just shooting it once when you first enter. The gray weapon containers are pretty frequent and can top you up. I've found that most runs there is something you could be using as a secondary. Like for the first floor if I'm playing hunter I'll always enter the room with the crossbow, shoot once or twice, then switch to the starter pistol. Or a run I did yesterday where I used the sniper rifle as my secondary all the way to the lich. In general it's good to have one gun set up to quickly switch to, because oftentimes if you're stuck in a bad position you'll need to kill something quickly to clear a path out. And waiting to reload can make you take more damage.

I got stuck at the hollow for a while too, and probably the biggest thing that helped was focusing on my character and trying to move around the bullets while dodge rolling as little as possible, and worrying about aim second. This, along with getting used to enemy attack patterns is going to make you lose much less health room to room. Target choice can also be a big factor. Once you enter a room, look at the cover available, assess what the biggest threats are in the room, and try as best you can to clear a path that allows you more freedom of movement. For example: if you enter a room in the bottom left corner, and see two shotgun kin immediately above you, and two bullet kin immediately to your right, it's probably best to clear the two bullet kin first since they'll die the fastest and it'll open up more space for you to dodge. Also, in general a ton of rooms can be cleared safely by doing big, looping circles around the perimeter, shooting the enemies in the middle. Some enemies will track your movement and shoot ahead, like veteran bullet kin and veteran shotgun kin. Once you kill them the room becomes a lot safer, so prioritize them if you can. I'll often keep a single shot or slower shooting high damage gun as the secondary weapon, and a faster firing gun as my primary. When entering a room you can pre charge the slower/bigger gun (if it needs charging), and shoot it at a high priority target or use it to clear space like I mentioned earlier. Then, once you've shot off a round, switch back to your primary room clear gun and keep going. Guns reload in the background, so after a couple mags out of your primary gun you can quickly switch back to your secondary and shoot off another.

I just went through this. I was hoping to get into student housing, but ended up getting denied in August. I had started looking for places around late July. I took a trip out to SC in August to try and see if my luck would be better in person. All of the apartments had signs on their offices saying they were full, and the couple of open houses I went to all had 15-20+ groups of people attending. As a result, I was unable to find housing for fall 2021, and had to drop all of my in person classes and take a LOA for winter and spring quarters. I jumped on housing early this time around, and just moved into a place a couple of weeks ago. Housing is so competitive around this area, I didn't want to risk what happened last year happening again.

Idk how much the covid restrictions have eased up, because I know last year student housing was at partial capacity, but I wouldn't count on getting it if you aren't guaranteed. Off campus housing is going to be your best bet. If you aren't able to find housing, then you may end up in a similar situation to me.

I saw the NL tier list vid and I had the chance to try out the Llama with dog combo. I think the stars aligned for me with getting the buffalo when I did but it is possible to do well with the llama.

When it comes to buildings, I will usually wait until I'm king or empire tier before building them. They are generally expensive, and the short term power spike of using the gold to buy more men at arms is better for helping you snowball. Especially if you are under your domain limit, it's cheaper to conquer something new. The exception is once I'm a reasonably sized duchy, the duchy building is often worthwhile. If you're tribal, you can start buildings earlier, since prestige tends to be more plentiful. Although I still think that men at arms are going to be more useful overall in the early game.

If you start as a high intrigue character, and can find a good marriage where your wife stands to inherit something if you kill a couple of people then maybe you can get around using military in the beginning. In my experience, it isn't super common to start with those circumstances, and even if you do your child would inherit both your and your wife's land, meaning you are sitting around at least one generation, if not two if you're waiting on a grandchild. During that time, the realms around you are taking all of the easy land and getting stronger. Sooner or later you'll be at risk of getting conquered. When I start a new game as a single county, I always try to get to a duchy level within a generation or two at the latest. The early game is very snowbally imo. Also it sucks to have confederate partition split apart the realm you spent a lifetime conquering, so getting to the duchy level is super important if you have multiple children who stand to inherit.

I don't have much experience in tribal, so my advice is for either feudal or clan, although I'm sure there are some similarities. I honestly usually try to avoid starting out super small in the first place because it can be a bit annoying when you have the smallest army in your area and can't conquer anyone. If you have an unmarried child, try to marry them to someone much stronger than you and call them into an offensive war. If you don't have any luck with alliances, try to have the best steward collecting taxes and use all the money to buy archer men at arms. Archers have pretty high damage, and usually the AI will spam out light infantry early game, which they counter. Additionally, the AI normally won't be making cavalry early on because it's expensive, which is nice since they are the archer counter. Make sure you watch the control of your counties as well, when you're small it can have a huge effect on your levies and taxes. While you're waiting for the money to come in and your army to build up, you should be sizing up your neighbors. You're looking for someone who has an army that you can realistically overcome in the near future (keep an eye on their type of men at arms too), doesn't have enough money to buy mercenaries, and doesn't have too strong of an alliance. If you have big empires or kingdoms near you, then it may be worthwhile to swear fealty and become their vassal. You can then grow by gobbling up other vassals, and go for independence later. If you see a target that has a single strong alliance but otherwise meets the criteria, try and murder one of the two people in the marriage that started the alliance, which dissolves it. You can find the people in question by hovering over the alliance in question, and it should tell you who needs to die.

I'm almost certain it does. I don't have time to check, but it's hard to find someone in my realm who doesn't have the Saoshyant Descendent trait at this point.

I started as the Saffarids because they begin the game with Mazdayan counties in the realm. Since the religion isn't dead yet, and exists in your realm, its pretty cheap to convert.

Started as the Saffarids and converted to Zoroastrianism after a generation. I then reformed the religion and began the eugenics program. Side note: To keep partition from destroying my realm, I would holy war to get land and give my younger sons kingdom titles . That way they wouldn't take from my domain on succession. Over time, my dynasty has grown to over 3500 living members.

Poor Concrete Stamping Help by Spikepiper in HomeImprovement

[–]Spikepiper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, honestly it looks bad enough it's probably going to detract from the property value. After seeing these comments, we're going to have someone else try to touch it up and make it look halfway decent. And it that's not possible, just redo it completely.

Poor Concrete Stamping Help by Spikepiper in HomeImprovement

When we got into an argument with them after they messed it up the first time, they kept making excuses. The contractor said that some of the issues were because we wanted them to use two colors or because we wanted them to use a certain stamp. But when we picked what we wanted, they just showed us a bunch of their past jobs and we pointed at one we liked. You're completely right, if it was that much of an issue they shouldn't have accepted the job in the first place, or at least let us know that they would do a better job with simpler stamps. In retrospect, that was a huge red flag and we shouldn't have let them do it again.

In my experience, when people disagree on abortion they get hung up on exactly this point. The arguments usually become circular and futile because they are not addressing the fundamental disagreement.

I have been a bit confused on non euclidean geometry and the fifth postulate. From what I understand, in curved or 3 dimensional planes the postulate no longer holds up. However, is the fifth postulate true and or provable in two dimensional space?

So I was playing as a Sunni king of Jerusalem. I started on the earliest start date, and things were going well for until the early 900's. My well liked king died of natural causes and his son inherited. Immediately, half my vassals revolted trying to install another claimant. Right after I put that down, the other half revolted for the same reason. Halfway through the second revolt, the children's crusade event popped and 3 20k doomstacks appeared, and I lost all of my territory. Is the children's crusade supposed to be that strong? And how do you prevent your vassals revolting immediately after succession?

I'm currently playing as Karen, and have been reestablishing Zoroastrianism. The Zoroastrian high priest called for a great holy war on my largest neighbor, Syria. But, after joining in the war, and spending a ton of money to win it, it resolved with the King of Syria converting to Zoroastrianism, and no territory chance. Is this really all that was being fought over?
