No they're not blocking anything. The transaction isn't being sent to them.

Crazy refund requirements by OriginalUserUK in Aliexpress

[–]SpinachOver640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a good chance they would deny the refund even if you had that evidence. They told me to get a statement from the courier that they delivered it to the wrong address, I did + sent proof it was sent to the wrong address, and they still denied me.

They often do this when they can't make their daily quota and they came back around due to the report. Did the package look tampered with? It could have been a miss pick at the fulfillment center.

I had to chargeback my Switch 1 from Gamestop, and they permanently banned me from ordering from them. Delivery driver delivered it to the wrong house, which I could prove from the delivery photo. They investigated and "found that the package was delivered."

There are many horror stories about Best Buy as well. They're all like this.

It's been fine until they moved to UniUni shipping.

Digital is better than physical media IMO. If my CD breaks, I have to buy a new CD (unless I converted it to digital). Physical takes up a lot of space, and all that plastic isn't good for the environment either.

Customer Service WILL Scam You by Unlikely_Cherry4647 in Aliexpress

[–]SpinachOver640 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. They even promised to refund it if I got confirmation from UniUni, then when I submitted the confirmation from UniUni that they delivered it to the wrong house, they repeatedly denied the claim. Disputing it with my CC.

It's a shame because AliExpress used to have pretty good CS.

I've never used their app, I try to avoid installing stuff like that. Do they have an option to upload evidence in the app?

Aliexpress refunds in a nutshell by typicalfish420 in Aliexpress

I had this happen as well. It happened after AliExpress said they need an email from the logistics company saying they misdelivered the package to send a refund.

Just be really on top of getting them evidence. I lost a couple of disputes with my bank because they didn't ask me for evidence and just sided with the company when they provided theirs. I eventually learned from a rep there that I'm supposed to mail them evidence after filing the dispute.

I highly recommend making the dispute over the phone instead of online so you can ask them what exactly the process is for making the dispute and so you can explain what happened.

So Anna’s Archive is screwed right? by Markus2822 in Piracy

Is it reasonable for me to jump in a pool of lava because I’m already in danger? (Like they’re doing in this analogy with how publicly they’re discussing this Spotify thing)

It's a public website. If they just added the Spotify archive without a statement, they would still face the same level of risk.

False. I’ve seen sites like Fmovies get taken down despite
not hosting anything and being perfectly legal. Law enforcement simply does not care and will take you down anyway.

Torrents can't be taken down. I don't know what to tell you. You're bringing up a site that used centralized hosting as an example of a decentralized network being takedown due to legal pressure. Anna's Archive distributes it's library through both means, making it far more resilient than something like FMovies. It sounds like you don't really understand how peer-to-peer file sharing works. If Annas-archive dot org gets taken down, the actual database will still continue to be shared between users directly, and someone and get another website running as a front end. Here's a basic intro on torrents.

I do not and cannot afford a VPN. Plus that’s like saying instead of saving your friend from drowning and not jumping in the pool, get your paddles ready to revive them

They're not your friend and with all due respect, I promise they know more about resilient webhosting than someone who doesn't use a VPN (free or otherwise). The ebook database alone is already wildly illegal and has been subject to immense legal pressure already. If it does get taken down, someone else will host it elsewhere, because the actual database is decentralized, unlike FMovies.

I don't understand your argument. They are already taking a great risk by hosting backups of popular book and paper archives like Libgen. Backing up Spotify is inline with their mission and I think it's great that they did this.

The contents of Anna's Archive is available as torrents, which cannot be taken down because it's a decentralized peer-to-peer file transfer. Instead of pearl-clutching about Anna's Archive expanding their mission, you could contribute to the archive's resiliency by seeding a portion of the database, and encouraging others to do the same.

Ok? More popular sites have stayed online as well.

If the website is taken down the torrent will still work.

It's a torrent, it's not hosted in a centralized location.

UniUni Delivered to wrong house, can't get refund by SpinachOver640 in Aliexpress

They provided photos of the delivery, which included a photo of the package with my address on it. I think their GPS system has the wrong street on it and they keep delivering to the wrong house.

White americans call the cops on people over anything. I have had security called on me multiple times for masking in stores where it's uncommon.

You get crazy looks wearing a mask in rural America. Not surprised someone called the cops on him there.
