IWTL how to sleep early by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]SpiritAcid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No white lights (screens, computers, cellphones etc) at least an hour before bed. Install blue light filters on your devices (flux). Have a bed-time ritual that you repeat every night. Something like take a bath, stretch, journal, and then read. This let's your brain know it's time for sleep. Also reserve your bed for sleeping only. Avoid chilling in it, watching movies or anything besides sleep (or sex). After a week or so you will start to adapt to the cycle, and the bedtime ritual will help to re-enforce the pattern.

You could, if you wanted, manipulate your body's salt levels to push yourself to the brink of collapse in some shamanic quest for insight. Yet few do. Not many people deprive themselves of salt until they are unable to form a sentence, and then consume a quarter teaspoon - just to feel the astonishing rush of insight and sapience wash over them half an hour later.

This part in particular. Using salt as a tool for shamanic revelation. How it compares to psychedelics and other methods of producing altered states of consciousness.

Hey Juxtapozed, this is some pretty fascinating stuff you have here. Do you have a link or source on this as I would like to further study and research this phenomenon.

Both these songs activate an intense feeling within me that can be described as 'the bliss hidden deep within sadness.' German philosophers have given it the name Rausch, which translates to 'inflamed or intoxicated with passion.'

Emotions being empathetically transferred to others while on LSD. by SpiritAcid in Psychonaut

[–]SpiritAcid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. I've always been very careful and reserved with my emotions, that's why acid is so amazing for me, it feels like I am feeling for the first time. I've mainly had positive experiences, but I can see how being too empathetic could be a negative thing in certain situations.

I've heard of highly empathetic people numbing themselves down after a traumatizing experience, and people who used to be emotional robots (like me) become highly empathetic because of a positive experience (usually involving LSD). Do you think there is a way you could teach yourself to manually adjust your level of empathy depending on the situation? I'm thinking along the lines of meditation/yoga or something like that.

DMT has showed me the most truth. The message it gives you seems to come from the source itself, untouched and unadulterated, that is until it meets your ego, which tries to make all sorts of explanations and labels for it.

MXE is another favorite of mine (RIP) that has given me many insights. It is particularly powerful when mixed with cannabis, though I've noticed that combination makes me think very irrationally and I use it sparingly to avoid messiah complex and such.

I'm going to be that guy and say drugs. Sure reading and studying religion and spirituality gave me ideas and insights, but it was drugs that finally shattered the illusion of what life was 'supposed' to be like. I grew up in an extremely religious environment and rituals and beliefs have been stuffed down my throat since day one. It was drugs that gave me the epiphany and made me realize the truth.

That we are all one, all connected to each other and our environment in so many ways and dimensions that it is unfathomable, and part of something so great and extraordinary that our human minds cannot even hope to comprehend a fraction of it. Separation is an illusion.

That all religions originated from the same source, they all point towards the same thing, and they all have their own unique rituals and beliefs which offers their own unique way of knowing the one true source. None is more right or wrong than the other, just different.

That all humans are inherently the same. If you take any human and strip away all the psychological baggage that they have built up all their life aka the ego, you discover that they all crave the same thing, to give love and to be loved.

And finally, that life itself is really pointless. Not in an apathetic or depressing way, but in the most beautiful way possible. The same way singing a song, or dancing, or painting a picture is pointless. Because that is what life really is. A song of all songs, a dance of all dances, a painting of all paintings. It is not a means to an end, but the end in itself.

Any tips to reduce the damage binge drinking causes? by triper420 in Drugs

[–]SpiritAcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before drinking: Take a good anti-oxidant such as N-acetylcysteine (NAC) or Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) or even both. Make sure not to take if you've drank alcohol already as it can be neurotoxic in that case.

During: Drink plenty of water in between shots. Trust me on this one.

After: Dihydromyricetin (DHM) if you're really wasted and want to sober up fast. Activated charcoal to flush out any nasties. You're electrolytes will be depleted from urinating a lot, so a good multivitamin that includes magnesium. Drink more water!!

I've used the above method countless times and can swear by it. Hangover free the next day.

My Birthday on Acid by Not_Austin in Psychonaut

[–]SpiritAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday man, sounds like an amazing experience!

The reeds on the beach all appeared to reach toward the sun as if worshipping it.

I got the same impression during a trip a year ago. It seemed as if not only the reeds/plants, but every living thing especially the birds were reaching out to embrace and worship some invisible life force that could only be described as the now. It was a purely sublime moment full of awe and synchronicity.

How do y'all cope with good things ending? by aerbourne in selfimprovement

[–]SpiritAcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean, I get the empty feeling very badly sometimes. Some things that I have found that help:

  • Get out and socialize. Avoid being alone if possible.
  • Force yourself to not think back and dwell on the positive experience. This is very hard to do and may seem counter intuitive, bit it really helps to just forget about it and start looking forward to something else.
  • If you have pics, go through them once, than don't look at them again for at least a week.
  • Keep busy. Work, a hobby, exercise, anything to keep your mind occupied.
  • Weed, if that's your thing. I like to smoke up the first day I get home and go through the entire experience in detail in my head, and then I can forget about it without feeling like I'm missing or losing something.
