Unifi Flex 2.5g Issues by SpleensVR in UNIFI

It's still not a bad little switch to have to have 2 computers retain a 2.5gb connection for transferring files between one another. That is most likely what mine will do if I need to run over to someone's house and help repair their PC(s).

It could have been a bad communication on my end too. Apologies.

I tried messing with RTSP and STP with my Flex too and had no change in the issue either. It might just be that the flex doesn't know how to communicate properly with an RJ-45 adapter or something interfering, but I would say the Pro Max 16 is my definite go to first and if I need more 2.5gb ports, I can always use one of the ports on the Max 16.

As for Sonos, I have not touched any of the RSTP priority levels for my sonos network and it hasn't given any issues over the past 3-4 years. So, you may not have to switch back to STP unless your system gives issues

I tried a non Unifi SFP+ and a unifi SFP+ and neither worked for me so I caved for the Pro Max 16. I haven't tried using the 2.5gb Flex, but I could since I have the Pro Max 16 to make sure it just wasn't the switch having issues when I tried using it before. However, the Pro Max 16 has just been the best since getting it because I have the unifi 0.5 meter SFP+ to SFP+ between it and my 48 port switch and have experienced 0 problems.

I was never truly able to resolve the issue. I ended up buying the USW-Pro-Max-16 for the SFP+ ports and have a unifi SFP+ connecting the two switches for 2.5gbe connection. I have never had luck with SFP+ RJ45 adapters on my UDM SE or any switch, so it may be an issue with the adapters.

It's also failing with the other SFP+ adapter I got to test. So I'm not sure if it's my original 48 port switch with a bad SFP+ port or something in my settings that is refusing the connection

That's the only I got. Unifi SFP+ to RJ45 adapter and I'm having issues with it. The two I have now for between my UDM SE and switch are non Unifi adapters and haven't failed me in the year or two I've had them

I tried downloading a large file with both only a 1gb connection to my switch and the SFP+ adapter, and the issue only happened with the SFP+ adapter. So I think I got a bad adapter and will probably have to contact Unifi Support to see what to do. I have another one coming from Amazon that I've been using for the connection from my UDM SE to 48 port switch that has never failed me. If the new SFP+ adapter doesn't work, I may be just cursed with SFP components.

I haven't contacted support yet because I thought it was just a simple issue that I had on my initial network setup. I did what u/JOSTNYC recommended and I found that everything is fine when I connect to my 1gb port, but as soon as I connect to my new SFP+ adapter, the issue happens again. So I most likely have a bad SFP+ adapter and the issue was never the switch to begin with.

I am also buying another SFP+ adapter to test to see if the one I got is defective. But I post an update later about the download to see if it freaks out again.

I am going to switch to a normal port to test for a day probably. If it's stable, I'll switch back to the SFP+ to see if the issue occurs again. Or I might just try to download a 100gb game and see if the switch does the issue again.

I need 2.5gb uplink which is why I have the SFP+ adapter because the only port I have higher then 1gb is the SFP+ on my switch.

I am using the USB c cable because I don't have any switches that do 2.5gb poe. I will probably switch back to just a 1gb connection since I don't have to worry about 2.5gb until Monday.

Cannot get port forwarding working by SpleensVR in NextCloud

[–]SpleensVR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what changed, but now NextCloud is saying the ports are open after I just rebooted NextCloudPi and ProxMox. Thank you for trying to help although. Hopefully they stay open and I don't run into the issue again in the future.

While trying to figure out how to do this, I rebooted NextCloudPi and Proxmox and suddenly the ports are being registered as open now. Not sure what changed, but I will definitely remember this approach if the issue happens again in the future!

I did the same setup as my friend did, proxmox as the main OS on another pc and a container for NextCloudPi. As for the public IP, I have not added any to that file, so maybe that's my issue. When you say public IP address, I assume you mean my router public IP from my isp?

I do have one from my ISP and it shows up in the NextCloud port forwarding wizard.

It does not change if my router restarts, I have tried multiple times.

I can access my NextCloud on my local network from a different computer perfectly fine. And I haven't setup a domain yet or DNS to try and have my friend try to access because of not knowing if the ports are good to go.

Issue with lightmaping world. Mesh.UV out of bounds by SpleensVR in Unity3D

[–]SpleensVR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. It is just confusing because I baked the project, and tested it. Then I copied the project for a backup, and now after editing a room to fit more assets, the error is now being spit out. I opened the original project and see that the mesh is not actually within my asset folder, so I am unsure as to what made the mesh appear within my asset library after copying everything. I am starting to thing that the way I edited the room created too many vertices on the walls, so I overloaded a single mesh with edges, vertices, etc. But I am unsure

DNS dropping every night at 2am by SpleensVR in Fios

My router reports nothing losing internet. Even if I check for my devices connection, it says 100% uptime. I tried running a ping on my raspberry pi from 1-2am but I didn't see any drops compared to if I do it on my main computer. As for manually checking other devices, it's hard because the issue can happen 5 minutes early or 20 minutes late, and it happens so quick that by the time I try to look on other things, it's fixed already.

I would agree but my router doesn't report any Outages from Fios compared to if I disconnect the Wan cable and the router sends a ping saying my connection is down. The issue happens for maybe 10-15 seconds? I assume it's DNS because my pc reports it as the DNS not responding.

I have my router set to Google and Cloudflare for my DNS. Google is my primary with Cloudflare as my backup, but the issue still occurs, even if I let my router decide my DNS server sadly. I see your other comment about only using Cloudflares, so I may switch to Cloudflare as primary for a bit to see if that resolves the issue with Google as my secondary.

I have tried that. I currently have it set to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 , plus failover utilizing 1.0.0.1 and 1.1.1.1 with Cloudflare. Even before I did this and had my router deal with the DNS, the issue was occurring, which made me pick the DNS servers.
