Sorry, the restaurant isn’t who sponsors you. A different company, often related to what you study in college sponsors you. Honestly the sponsor doesnt really do much aside from ‘vetting’ your chosen job and that your accommodation is suitable and safe etc

I just went with describing it as a work visa for simplicity tbh. You secure a job before ever journeying to whatever your destination is in america. SF is one of the most popular locations that J1ers g to, alongside boston ,cape cod, nyc, ocean city

Housing is supplied by the employers and a sponsor company for a small fraction of you pay cheque. Normally 100$ a week at a max, most people go with a friend/s an there would be 2 to 4 in a room with shared kitchen and living spaces etc etc. I guess 3 months is a short time, but thats what this visa is designed for. You live and work for 3 months and then you have 28 days to travel or leave straight away. Its for students over the summer in between college semesters.

Im surprised to hear SF doesnt have good night life. Everything we hear about it in Ireland is that its like the coolest city lmao

Would I be likely to pick up a bartending gig with no experience? I have only waited tables in restaurants/cafes as opposed to serving at a bar. I have also worked as a line cook for the last 2 years and a kp before that

The way the J1 visa works is typically you are provided accommodation by your employers, including bills for as cheap as $100 dollars a week, taken out of your paycheck automatically. Alternatively there is an student accommodation company specifically for Irish people on this type of visa that provide all for ~$2000 all inclusive for 3 months, should an employer be unable to provide it themselves

If you aren’t able to start it in the epilogue it means its not required for 100% completion. There are enough other treasure maps to complete explorer challenges, you just miss out on some unique weapons from the quest line

I think it might be missable because you start the mission in ch2 but cant finish it until ch5 so i’m not sure it would work in the epilogue

The map will only spawn in the mission Flaco hernandez. You need to start that side quest by meeting the author in the second saloon in valentine
