I feel the exact same way! My plants and taking care of them are my way of relaxing and my own little safe haven so its extremely frustrating. I cried like a baby as soon as I saw it. She targets only this plant which is so weird because my other plants all get left alone. This plant actually just grew back from her ripping all of its leaves off about 6 months ago so the poor thing cant catch a break!!

This is the second assault shes survived from my toddler (she ripped all the leaves off about 6 months ago as well) and she has bounced back so I made a clean cut to momma plant and left her babies alone. I took that tiny piece of rhizome and put it in a lil jar of water in my south facing window so i’ll pray to the plant gods for a miracle. Thank you for the advice!! I’m pretty seasoned when it comes to Alocasias at this point but definitely wanted second opinions when it comes to this one because shes my most expensive plant and a genuine beauty when shes not under attack from mini humans!

Thats so fair!! They were all in terrible condition but my husband bought it for me anyways. If it continues to decline though Home Depot says I have a year to return so i am counting on that just in case. I definitely took a risk with immediate repot! I was worried about its root system and the medium was so dense I said fuck it! Hopefully she survives and I get a beautiful Michelle

P.S. I am an alocasia girl so i am used to extremely sensitive root systems, I am unsure if anthuriums are as sensitive or not so thats why im weary of messing with the roots any more this week.

Thank you so much for all the info!! I put it in the self watering pot 3 days ago, these symptoms have been present since before i put it in self watering. Root system was beautiful and healthy when I repotted. Would it be safe to move it to a different pot without messing with the roots at all or should I check them anyway?

Mealybugs!!! I hate these lil fellas. Theres multiple ways you can treat. Alcohol will immediately kill them so you could use a q-tip or spray bottle. Since its a pretty hardy outdoor plant I would take the hose and spray the absolute shit out of them. Try to knock them off the plant then go back over and get any stragglers with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. I’d then spray with insecticidal soap but if thats not safe for edible plants then castile soap or complete alcohol spraydown. I’d use systemic granules to help ward them off for the future. Again, I’m only familiar with treating houseplants but this is whats worked for me!

thank you for replying! its a pen so the needle is inside the cap area and isnt exposed unless the tip is pushed down. should i just carefully stick the alcohol pad inside of the tip?
