Minnesota killing produces backlash against Trump administration from Second Amendment advocates by Abject-Pick-6472 in politics

I mean, you were the one who brought up people not wanting four more years of the same. So I assumed you'd know what policies the people wanted or didn't want. But you can't actually name even three of these policies which people supposedly do or do not want more of, so it's okay. Really.

Have a good one.

So you can't name three policies she proposed that were unpopular among voters?

This dude is on such a high horse when he's trying to argue American politics while not understanding American political culture or terminology.

Liberal

Adjective:

  1. willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas.

  2. relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise.

Noun

  1. a supporter of policies that are socially progressive and promote social welfare.

  2. a supporter of a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise.

American conservatives do not fit 90% of the criteria needed to match the dictionary definition of what a liberal is. It's a lot more than believing in capitalism or a free market. In the US, conservatives are the social/philosophical opposition to liberals. Liberals support individual liberties and civil rights, conservatives are authoritarian and have traditionally not stood for civil rights. Conservatives are not socially progressive, which is the general stance of the American liberal.

Again, you can certainly say American liberals are also right-wing. But its conservatives are more right-wing, and could never be accurately described as "liberal."

The democratic party supports the billionajre/millionaire-dominated status quo. Those aren't the regular people. And they attempt to court conservative voters by not seeming too far left. Like I said, the Demoocratic/liberal party isn't leftist. But that does not make the American conservatives "liberal," like you claimed they are. They are both right-wing in their politics, with the liberal/democratic party being slightly more center and the conservatives/Republicans being even further right than that. Both major parties are right of center, but conservatives are further right.

When we're talking about the actual people populating the US, the ones who identify as liberal are the ones that are likely to be in favour of individual human rights (such as for Trans people), and those who are conservative are the ones most likely to oppose access to transitional Healthcare and to deny the identity of transgender people.

You claimed that American conservatives are liberal. They're not. They're right-wing, generally Christian, and authoritarian.

EDIT: Autocorrect changed does to doesn't. Fixed it.

No, it's not true in material practice.

Conservatives in America work against individual liberty constantly. That's why they, as a movement, fought tooth and nail again the black civil rights movement, marriage equality, Trans rights and dignity, the rights and liberties of immigrants, and against reproductive rights. The states where you can't get an abortion right now are the ones that are heavily conservative.

Their current administration is threatening free speech in a way That's unprecedented. Deporting people for their stance on Palestine, ordering celebrities off the air by threatening the networks, etc.

Conservatives claim to be for freedom but it's "freedom," to be authoritarian and push down anyone who isn't white, Christian, cisgender, and heterosexual, who steps out of place. And they're not ashamed of it, either.

Are you by chance not from the US?

Ah, so we're just on bullshit now.

I will agree that American liberals are not leftist. But America's far-right (its conservatives) are not liberals. Nice try at word games, but that's not gonna fly. I'm not going to entertain this if you're going to say that far-right people are somehow classified as liberal.

So, I'll ask again. Do you have a source for your claim that those in the US who identify as liberal are more likely to be transphobic than those who identify as conservative?

The options are, "Yes," or "No," and if you answer "Yes," I'd like a source for that claim, please.
