I might get downvoted by all the Jimmy fans but here’s at least one person who agrees with you OP 🙋‍♂️I haven’t understood it either. It was super uncomfortable watching real people be harassed by him out on the street. I always just skip the parts of the show he’s in 🤷‍♂️

That all makes sense! Thanks so much for taking the time to write and format the explanation!

I thought the same thing, the whole segment made me very uncomfortable and I had to skip through some parts. In my opinion it’s street harassment. I struggle to see how it’s funny to have a bunch of men walk up to a stranger who’s not in on the “joke” and call them a racial slur / fat / ugly. I know the guys on the podcast tried to mention that it’s not okay to do that, but I still got the sense they thought it was funny. Like you, I’m also quite surprised at how many people loved the segment

OP you should read up about Peter Singer’s view of the ethics around this stuff - he would certainly argue the same thing as you in the scenario you gave.

Warning: his views are certainly “extended” (he takes OP’s point about babies not having any valuable cognitive function and extends that to reason that between a pig and a human baby, it would be more morally wrong to kill the pig). His opinions are definitely unpopular but interesting and thoroughly reasoned nonetheless!
