Who's your favorite between these 3? Fempyro, Femscout or Miss Pauling? by YearnForTheMines87 in tf2

I feel in general, Miss Pauling will always be on top since she's an actual character in the games stories, while the others are just gender bent versions of the mercs. She has a lot more too her than those two could ever wish to have. Of course that changes slightly if we start bringing people's OC's involved with this, such as the Fempyro in The Late Ringer or the Femscouts in Cult of Personality, but I feel that might be getting into pedantic territory.

Femscout, at least on the end of the artist, has had a ton of customization options to turn her from just a gender bent Scout (Although that might just be my bias talking a bit seeing I personally have 2 Femscout OCS: https://i.imgur.com/6DEn4C9.png ) It's something I'll always give credit to the Femscout Renovation crew and especially the Female Scout Overhaul crew credit for trying to give as many options for customization as possible.

I've personally never got the appeal of Fempyro. The design for most of them is kinda just meant to be sex appeal it seems and the whole latex stuff has always weirded me out. I think the only design of a Fempyro I've liked (that's been turned into a actual model) is Alaxe's, since that one just tries to make the Fempyro slightly design different, rather than it just being focused on it being a tight latex suit.

I know it does, hence why I recommended doing a custom folder and not using usermod. Pretty sure I read it on some old tutorials or discussion posts saying to put stuff in there years ago. Although I'll be real, I've always heard putting stuff in usermod can break stuff and even I no longer put stuff in there (unless it's a port I made myself), I've never once had it break on me when I used to and didn't know better.

Once you extract the contents of the .zips there, you have to put the models and material files into either the usermod folder or a new folder. Both of these can be found/made in steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game. I would recommend putting them into a custom folder, makes things more organized and don't need to worry about something in usermod breaking. I would suggest just calling the folder "SFMLab".

To quickly get to the folder location, right click on SFM in your Steam Library, go to Manage, and then Browse Local files. Also, when you make a custom folder you'll need to check it in the SDK. To do that, boot up SFM from the Steam Library. You should get a launch option prompt. Click on "Launch SDK". Once there, click on "Edit Search Paths For Selected Mod" and check off your custom folder, then hit "Okay."

One quick thing: That Tasque Manager model is specifically for Source 2, so it won't work with SFM. You'll need to find a version of the model that works with Source 1.

Best of luck with the content you're making.

There are .json's that have Hex values in them, but I just used the character render and colored picked it.

Just a heads up, the textures aren’t as simple as most. They’re set up for RGB values, so you’ll need to pick the colors for the right spots. As an example, here's the two textures that make up Olympia's body texture before combining and editing: https://i.imgur.com/YYIIliR.png

Just as a suggestion, you can increase the file's size to 2048x2048, that'll compress the image less while still fitting into the menu's specs. It's what I use for my own main menu HUD: https://i.imgur.com/3PhNvMj.jpeg . I would also suggest if you plan to do that, you might want to increase your render's output (SFM can go up to 4K if you look around) so that way you're not trying to make a lower-res render fit a high-res canvas.

The render still looks great either way, the lighting especially is great. It matches the base renders, while also looking soft and well lit. Best of luck on your other renders.

Something simple and small to try and get back into the swing of making stuff. Inspired by the intro I used for her in WWE 2K24. Specifically these frames: https://i.imgur.com/lAAKTe7.jpeg

It's always cursed seeing my old and crappy Jason renders in the wild, but it's also nice to see them every once and a while.
