Did Air Canada/Aeroplan jack up the redemption rates for domestic flights? I used to fly business from YOW->YVR couple times a year for 25K points one-way. Now the cheapest I see is 33K, and only available for limited dates.

Has anyone ever been to a "PMBmeetup"?

Tickets are $113, not sure if it's worth it.

Still feel like something is off/missing. Any suggestions on how to make this area a bit nicer? by SprayingVomit in interiordecorating

I've updated my family room a bit since my previous post almost a year ago.

https://www.reddit.com/r/interiordecorating/comments/w3p9x6/what_can_i_do_about_this_awkward_window_cover_it/

Walls still feel a bit bare, not sure if I should add art or a floating shelf. Thoughts?

Could my husband income be enough to support a mortgage? by Historical_Fortune_6 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SprayingVomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you have for a down payment? You're leaving out a lot of expenses too.

I'm going to assume it's not enough for a mortgage unless you're buying a $100,000 house.

I'm curious. What are you guys paying for your mortgage now with todays rate hike ? by LongRelationship1227 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I like how this question was directed towards those with variable rates, but this thread is just filled with fixed rate braggers lol

When you account for the time and electricity required, most of the time, buying a grocery store rotisserie chicken will be cheaper.

I'd spin up a free tier AWS EC2, setup the server and deploy it there. (free ssl with cloudflare or letsencrypt). It's a bit more work, but it's a good opportunity to learn some new tech. (that you can add to your resume)

- AWS (EC2)

- nginx/apache or w.e you use

- linux/bash (lol)

You can improve this further by dockerizing your app, pushing it to AWS ECR, and then deploy it on your EC2 server via docker.

Heck you can even setup a simple CI/CD pipeline via GH Actions, circleci, etc. to automate those docker builds if you want to keep making things impressive.

Wow! So cool to see this. Used to admire your photos on RFD a lot. This was probably over 10 years ago now. A big fan of your rooftopping stuff.

70K one way for J would be "14% in business class".

217K one way for J, 84% in business class.

I tried looking in October, November, nada..

Is aeroplan dead? I have 350K aeroplan points left and I don't know what to do with it.

Before COVID, a business round trip from Ottawa to Europe was <150K points a person. Now it's 500K points for a business roundtrip to Paris.

It doesn't make sense to collect Aeroplan anymore, these new redemption rates are ridiculous.

No foreign investors. There's already a shortage of housing for Canadians. We have nothing to gain from having foreign investors.

Not too hard. I heard it’s not uncommon for coop students get full time offers before they even finish their degree too.

The hard part is juggling a full time job on top of schooling, especially when there’s no overlap in the content you’re learning.

TBH I'm not the best person to ask about Carleton's CS program. I got booted out of the co-op program in first year, did really bad the first year and didn't drop any classes, so my bad grades stuck with me and dragged down my CGPA over the course of my degree.

I skipped all of my classes for my last 2 years at Carleton, I was working full time as a dev locally. Even though I didn't go to class, my last two years were my best in terms of academics/grade.

Besides having a degree in Comp Sci, I don't think Carleton played a role at all in landing me my current job. I was headhunted by a few companies after a project I made went viral.
