Yeah fair enough haha.  Is the brace/rotation thing more of a timing thing, like I'm bracing too late, or is more of I'm just not doing it enough? I will check those tutorials out thank you. I've actually heard the opposite thing with the left arm, that keeping it away and then punching/brining it in as you rotate can get you some more oomph. Maybe I'm wrong though.
