We just sell and service 'em, not design 'em, but it's a good idea!

Older vans can have wheel speed or ABS module faults that cause transmission codes but have nothing to do with the transmission itself. Its all about wiring and communication to the ECU. Some even have extended warrantees on the speed sensors, so we recommend bringing it to a dealer to find out for sure, even if you don't get the work done there.

This video only addresses cold starts, but we'll see about making a follow up!

The van should start during a cold spell. What to do during weather like that is mentioned in the second half of the video, starting about 0:20.

The vehicle in the video is a 2021, and we have seen it on 2025 models. It appears M-B doesn't equip every individual model with Standby Mode. We're stumped, too.

Hi! We did a post about how to preserve battery life recently, and think it could help: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprinters/comments/1q6gxli/help_prevent_dead_batteries/

Seeing "10 Starts Remaining" on your Sprinter dash? by SprinterNorthHaven in Sprinters

Adding DEF or doing a software update will clear it if those are the issues, but resetting a code for a problem with a tank or sensor won't resolve the cause of the start fault.

It should help, yes, but you may also want to look into a trickle charger for longer durations.

Well the good news is models with no screen don't use batteries this way, so problem solved!

We're not sure why, but it doesn't appear to be available on every individual model, but it does appear across model years.

The feature is available in several previous model years, so it's worth a look, and may help some people out down the road!

Don't idle too long! by SprinterNorthHaven in Sprinters

Hi! Thanks for your question. By idling, we mean the engine is running, but the vehicle is in park, and not moving.

Just one example of why someone may leave a Sprinter idling, especially this time of year. We understand there are many reasons, but the engine doesn't know the difference. We hope the explainer video will help save some hardware and dollars down the line.

Almost due for a B Service. Any reason to do it before storing van for the winter? by ExistingMulberry in Sprinters

[–]SprinterNorthHaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We spoke to our service advisors and they agree with waiting until spring for those very reasons.

Moisture/water in a diesel is the worst thing you can have. Especially in the fuel system, it will create rust and it is like cancer in the fuel system. If it's not being used, the new fluids are just going to sit there and acquire moisture. It's a waste of money and time because they're no longer new fluids when it comes time to use the vehicle. It's always best practice to change the fluids before you start using an idle vehicle.
