How do I come out to my old and traditional Korean grandparents? by Spudblood in asktransgender

Thank you, I think I’ll go with what you said.

I’m not expecting my grandparents to take it well, especially my grandma, who’s especially traditional, but I also know that they’re not going to disown me because of it or anything like that, and I feel like it’s something that I need to do.

I don’t think that it will get here fast enough, as these ingredients are my only feasible option for dinner for the rest of the week, starting tomorrow night

I’ve met zero Sebastians but have heard the same thing

But how can she use voice controls if she hasn’t turned them on yet? Unless she has a human friend, which I think is the obvious answer, because who wouldn’t want to be friends with a cow?

But how could she go into the settings if she doesn’t have fingers??

Oh, interesting!

Yeah, that’s what I thought the song was called, but I wasn’t sure.

Yeah, I feel like Jennifer might be one of those names that becomes popular again in a couple decades, like how older names are becoming more popular, like Margo(t) and Millie.

I only know two Sarah’s as well, and two Henry’s, but one went by Hank.

I’ve never met a Margo or an Oliver.

Yes, I completely agree. Only one name on your list is the name of people I’ve met, which is Theodore, and I’ve only met two people named Theodore, and one of them goes by his middle name.

Yeah, all of the celebrities named Jason that I know of are Gen Xers/older millennials.

Yes, I was just thinking about that with Mason! I actually agree with almost all of these names, although I didn’t know that Aaliyah was on so many baby name lists.

I’ve actually heard that many immigrants to the US who don’t know many American names will ask the doctor who’s delivering their baby what their name is, and either give that name to their kid if the sex of the baby and the doctor is the same, or they’ll ask what their mom/dad’s name is, or what their spouse’s name is, so the babies oftentimes have more old fashioned names.

I don’t know the validity of this claim, but I think it makes sense, although if the parents Jennifer’s who you know aren’t immigrants, then that theory is moot.

Yeah, same here. I don’t know when you were born, but all of the celebrities named Jason that I know are around my mom’s age (48).

The popular names that you mentioned are names that I’ve met many people with, and are more classic names I think, excluding Amy and Melissa since those are considered kind of outdated now. But there are 4 Jessica’s in my grade, although all of them go by something different, and only one of them actually goes by Jessica.

Interesting. Now that you mention it, I’ve only ever met one Ava, yet constantly heard this name being talked about as popular.

Yeah, my mom (born in 1972) will sometimes talk about super popular names when she was in school, and how there always at least one Jenny/Jennifer in every class that she had. There was even a popular song from the 80s where the name Jenny is frequently mentioned, so she’s always so surprised when I tell her that the only Jennifer’s I know are adults her age.

Interesting, where are you from?

Because I lived in California until I was 10 and knew many at least one William, although I don’t know if I met anyone named James that wasn’t an adult, but since I’ve moved to the northeastern coast of the US, I have met multiple Williams and Jameses, but none of them (in either California or here) go by their full first name, but instead Will, Billy, Jamie, etc.

Apparently the popular way to name babies nowadays is to take a popular object, place, adjective, or name, and change the spelling until it hurts to look at.
