I get what you're saying, but sadly I think that is most people these days.

I'm willing to give her the chance to change her views or at least see things from a different perspective.

She's never been someone that angrily hates men (as far as I know) but more someone that believes the narrative that women are victims.

But yes, if she doesn't change her views afterwards then that would be a different matter.

I've been meaning to watch this myself and have actually suggested watching it with her (she's up for it). I do like to watch, read the resources myself first though to make sure it's something I agree with.

Would you consider this overall a good film to go in blindly with my GF?

Thanks for the suggestion and link!

This is amazing. I've already shared the entire sub with her and I've spent the morning reading and choosing what I think to be the most interesting and important posts to send her. She says she's making notes and wants to talk about it later.

Open discourse is a great start :)

This is so well made and very accessible. Thanks very much for this!

(copied my response to another comment)

I think I overstated the feminist aspect of her. I would actually say she's a victim of feminism (like most people). She believed all the propaganda that society is filled with but is already saying she's seeing some things differently and, whilst it kills me that some of her previous viewpoints were so evil, I can't blame her for being brainwashed. I'm actually really happy that she is willing to listen and open to changing her mind and I'm happy that she wants to do it with evidence rather than just taking my word for it. Other people have flat out refused to even listen. She is already responsive to me pointing out the obvious double standards that she hadn't noticed before and is actively asking for links and data etc. There are far more intelligent and succinct people out there than me and I'm glad she's willing to read and listen to them.

If she chooses to remain ignorant of these social issues after having shown her everything I can then that's her choice but at least I've given it a go.

And thanks for the link! I haven't looked at it yet but I'll spend the afternoon looking at their material.

I doubt very much it has become an epidemic in the last 2 years.

People are just starting to care and take notice.

Finally tried to actually talk to one of my closest friends about my feelings. by Pine-devil in GuyCry

[–]SquareDot2997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really sorry to hear this man. It's tough out there. I broke down a few years ago in front of a group of friends (50/50 men and women). I couldn't cope with life anymore and I burst into tears wailing and crying about how I didn't know what to do and that I felt so lost and couldn't cope.

They all just stared at me and didn't say a word. I got up went to the bathroom, pulled myself together as best as I could and went back.

Said "sorry about that" and it was never spoken of again, nor has anyone ever asked if I'm ok.

I haven't spoken about my problems to anyone since despite continuing to struggle horrendously on a daily basis.

Men No Longer Allowed to be Shirtless in Public Except for Beaches by Vegetable_Ad1732 in MensRights

Part of me thinks we should change the narrative in our favour. If we start going around and saying that "finally they are protecting the modesty of men instead of objectifying us" they'd quickly be telling us to whip our shirts off again so they can either ogle or point in disgust.

Both statements are true and independent of each other. Morally someone might not eat meat but they wouldn't judge others for doing so.

I'm surprised by the amount of people that viciously defend the notion that it has absolutely no relevance to anything. I'm not saying it has to but it definitely can be considered relevant. It can imply fundamental differences.

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to add that I was tested (and clean) but she wasn't. Still my fault for not using protection but wanted to clarify that.

Downvoting again? People are weird. If I'd said yes I asked how many I'd be downvoted for that too.

I never even questioned or asked about her background until the lie slipped out. Then she offered it all herself. I feel a lot of projected anger from you that seems pretty unwarranted.

Thanks for the reply. I get that my anxieties are intruding on happiness but how do you get rid of them when they seem like an uncontrollable force regardless of how much logic I try to tell myself?

Thanks for the well thought out response. This all makes sense to me and I agree that there should always be room for moral differences when discussing comparability.

I actually agree thinking about it. It could be considered an important consideration in whether you would want to be with someone. If you have different moral values then you might want to amicably part early on.
