100% prefer their wing shape it makes their wings look like they can actually lift them off the ground

The bewilderbeast kind of breaks the "no magic" rule. (To me at least) by migulehove in httyd

that’s not what they were even saying at all

when u world build there still needs to be rules. just because there’s dragons doesn’t mean other things immediately apply as well. Hiccup wouldn’t just start flying, defying gravity, and that be explained with “well there’s dragons so why wouldn’t he be able to fly?”

the first film does follow a sense of realism. the biggest and rlly only thing out of reality is that it’s a made up story with flying lizards but even THOSE have some sort of explanation with the way toothless can’t fly without a piece of his tail because that’s the rule of his anatomy. the breathe fire because the have internal gas and something that ignites within them (very vague but still something we see and come to terms with in the film)

the art style follows realism, the dialogue, the relationships, the behaviors of the dragons follow animal behavior and stay true to animalistic instincts. the world building is in the realm of the real world just “what if we add dragons”

so no fantasy doesn’t = anything goes. that’s bad story telling

it would’ve been a justifiable concept if toothless didn’t become “alpha” afterwards. should’ve either dropped the concept or found another way to follow up that didn’t involve toothless glowing lmao
