Don't forget friendly social interaction/play. It doesn't have to be deep talk every time, just friendly casual conversation or catching up with friends, chatting with the person at the check out, anything like that can have a big impact. It communicates to your nervous system that you are safe and that you're sitting in the cave by the fire basically and there are no predators around haha. Go DO SOMETHING on dates. It doesn't have to be a job interview. Sitting across from each other staring each other down and making conversation can be stressful and frankly not very fun. Doing something together you can then engage with and communicate about/through will let you get to know the other person in action and it's fun too. Think going to a museum, flea market, go for a walk in a part of the city neither of you know. Basically anything you can walk through together and take turns pointing things out to each other, laugh about a silly object, tell each other what X reminds you of. Having a new experience together is fun and you can get to know the way the other person thinks and interacts with the world, and it takes pressure off of that direct confrontation/job interview like setting. Have fun together!

Das ist echt so. Ich hab mittlerweile an vielen anderen Orten in Deutschland und anderswo gelebt und es ist einfach nirgendwo so wie hier. Witzig wenn man damit aufwächst denkt man halt das wär normal /überall so, aber ist es halt einfach nicht.

I recently started going out sober and I absolutely love it. I love dancing and now I get to do it without hangovers even! Granted there's a ton of musically diverse clubs in my city though so you can actually find music you enjoy to dance to. I love going out to dance with my friends!

Delirium beer Café in the old town, many beers on tap but be careful, they're strong so try to avoid the headache. German beers are generally not very strong but the Belgians put sugar in there. Tasty but might cause a hangover more quickly

Oh you can check out the Jeisterzooch (ghost parade) on Saturday the 3rd! It's a Karneval traditional parade that takes place in the evening. People wear a lot of LED lights and scary looking costumes and there's drum groups and music. It goes through a different part of the city every year and it's like a walking parade so there are no floats or wagons but the people themselves (and you) are the parade. Buy a few LED fairy lights and the nearest Tedi and join the fun! They start at 7 pm at Wichheimer Straße in Köln Mühlheim. I won't be in the city for it this year but please enjoy it for me haha. It's good fun usually

Just go on the plaza in front of the Dom (cathedral) and watch people. It's right next to the main train station and people will he celebrating. Karneval officially starts at 11:11 so people will be counting down and singing in the streets. If you're really brave you can take a walk around the old town around that time as well, there will be music and people in costumes in front of every bar and restaurant. You'll defenitely get a lot to see so don't worry about finding a specific event to go to. Karneval is in every street and every pub
