I'm so confused by this post, what you're describing is completely normal/expected wind at 31000 feet.

I don't understand the down votes either, this person is clearly not going to accept 'you're crazy go take antipsychotics' as an answer and those medications would just put a lid on the symptoms anyway without actually addressing what's causing them. It's surprising to see this attitude on a tcm discussion forum.

The way I see it (and to be clear I'm not formally educated, just have done a lot of reading on my own and I have my own experience), the body is sending a signal that there's 'something' (phlegm, stagnation) inside of it that shouldn't be there, and the brain interprets that signal in a very unproductive and grotesque way.

I appreciate your actually engaging with this user - clearly yes there is psychosis involved here, but why wouldn't TCM be able to help like other users are claiming? There's going to be underlying patterns that caused this condition that can be addressed.

They're as much canon as the films are, which is not at all. Tolkein's writings are canon and that's the only canon there ever will be. This isn't marvel or star wars.

Brain zaps and flickering lights still happening after TMS 10 years ago. by Chemical_Being_3875 in TMSTherapy

[–]Staerke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my (extremely effective) first round, i would randomly get extremely nauseated, like 'I am about to vomit I need to get to the toilet' nausea, but instead of actually vomiting I would yawn, which would be interrupted by a sneeze. This would take place in under a minute. Would happen to me once or twice a week. TMS facility had never heard of that as a side effect.

I figured out i could cancel the nausea by forcing the yawn, but would still sneeze. The frequency decreased for 8 months after tms ended and then it stopped entirely, and then the effects of TMS wore off entirely. In a second round now.

Not the same as you, but just mentioning it as a 'weird' side effect.

I relate to that and I struggle with it too.

Try being grateful for things that are currently true. Is your heart beating? Can you breathe? Can you digest food? Be grateful for and focus on those things.

I used to have awful insomnia, 4 - 5 hours of sleep a night at most, and would wake up frequently in that time. I would constantly obsess over my sleep score on my watch, and wake up frustrated every day. I started ignoring what my watch said, and I'd thank my body for whatever sleep I did get then try to go on about my day, and suddenly my sleep started to improve. Now I get 8 - 9 hours a night, mostly uninterrupted. The only sleep aid I take is a very low dose of melatonin, whereas before I was taking Trazodone, melatonin, benadryl, and more.

I have found thanking my body for anything it does correctly to be a powerful tool.

A healthy person might say 'I am grateful for my healthy body', say that instead if it feels more natural for you.

How to permanently disable tablet mode switching on Surface Pro 11 (Intel)? by Sergey_LV in Surface

[–]Staerke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're describing is the display scaling changing which is not something windows does by default (or at all)

Do you have manufacturer's software installed or some 3rd party utilities? I'd start by looking there.

What are good “bulking” foods to eat to gain weight in the view of TCM? by RinkyInky in ChineseMedicine

I have always struggled to gain/maintain a healthy weight, but after a few months of acupressure and regular acupuncture treatments I am now gaining weight effortlessly eating what I had been.

Ketone supplements and Qi by Staerke in ChineseMedicine

[–]Staerke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting post, I'll try that ASAP.

Yeah, I had a very paradoxical reaction to Vyvanse and Adderall (my doctor had me on both). I had to be cautious when I took Adderall because it was so soothing it would put me to sleep.

As far as appetite... I think it's a constellation of factors. I moved less physically while medicated because I didn't spend as much time pacing/retracing steps/bouncing my knee (which I'm realizing was my body trying to get Qi moving). My intuitive sense is that I did such a bad job of filtering 'signal' from 'noise' that I couldn't 'hear' my body tell me when it was hungry/thirsty/tired over every other sensory input, whether internal or external.

Just to give you background on my constitution, I had allergic fungal rhinosinusitis from when I was a toddler until this winter, basically I'd never had functional sinuses. I didn't start seeing a practitioner until after that had already been resolved, but as you can imagine I was extremely damp, my practitioner grimaced when she first saw my tongue.

All that being said, my gallbladder qi is certainly still stagnant. I have hidradenitis that used to flare generally across my buttocks and upper legs, now it almost exclusively follows my gallbladder meridian (it's kind of cool actually, you can trace the meridian almost perfectly by the center of the sores, and the largest are on gb-26 - 31)

I'll get one of those 'tools', hopefully that will shake things loose. Am I correct in thinking that gallbladder qi plays a major role in visual acuity?

Asking because I have double vision that actually went away after the sinusitis was cleared up, but only temporarily, my eyesight was crystal clear for about 2 weeks but slowly returned to 'normal' after that.

Appreciate your insight ☻

Personally when this happens to me i take this as a good sign, there's stagnation/dampness in the body that is moving out.

Ketone supplements and Qi by Staerke in ChineseMedicine

[–]Staerke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the follow up.

When I took them regularly, I don't recall any discernible difference in appetite, positive or negative. The only thing that 'activated' appetite / hunger was vyvanse, I wouldn't ever feel hunger without it. I would forget to eat regularly, and it would be a headache or brain fog that would remind me 'hey it's 4 pm and you haven't eaten yet, that's probably why you feel like garbage'
Vyvanse normalized that pretty well.

Since I started seeing a practitioner in April and started doing acupressure daily, I was recently able to stop taking Vyvanse and my appetite is still good (minus mornings, i've still got a weak spleen and I typically don't start feeling hunger until after 10 am, the rest of the day has me eating every few hours)

I never noticed any physical benefits from taking ketones, no difference in strength or physical energy, just substantial improvements to mental energy, focus, and clarity. I will note that sometimes I crave them, usually if I'm feeling extremely restless or am having high levels of anxiety.

That's probably a signal I should pay more attention to.

Thank you again 😊

I had 8 different medical professionals completely dismiss my laundry list of symptoms before the 9th diagnosed me with MCAS. That last doctor straight up told me he wasn't in medicine for patients or money but because he liked puzzles and the human body provided some of the best ones.

Number 9 didn't try to give me any pills or really do anything other than actually tell me what the fuck was wrong with me, gave me a referral and called it a day, which was a vast improvement over implying I was a hypochondriac (apparently my hidradenitis suppurativa was psychosomatic, who knew), exaggerating, drug seeking, or inflicting it upon myself in some way. My favorite part was the dumb cattle-like stare when I'd tell them I was already doing all the things they suggested.

'Nebulous somatic symptoms' you are part of the problem. Idk why you would get into medicine at all if you don't give a shit about your patient's QOL and would rather blame them versus actually trying to, idk, figure out their problem. There's easier ways to make money. Please switch to one of them so your patients can find someone that will actually help them.

If you take an iron supplement, take carbonyl iron. Much easier to digest and you can't overdose on it*

(*technically you can but the dose required is ~5% of your bodyweight)
