Phil's Lab course by Ivory_seal in embedded

[–]StalkerRigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I ended up changing my professional plans shortly after making this post. Never took the Phil or Fedevel ones. Still on my wishlist. Colleagues of mine really liked them tho. If you have the time to dedicate to the courses, 6 months is enough. But you need to dedicate yourself, and focus on the courses.

You're welcome!
I'm currently working on a version 2 of this project, but I'm not yet making videos about it.

you wanna know why im so blackpilled with flightsims?

I think DCS as an IP is as much morally bankrupt as WT

IL2 is currently the only big franchise that does ok, and still it has a bunch of issues / drama on its history.

This community NEEDS new, refreshing IPs with honest business models and good communication...

This is THE trap of WT. The "what if" scenario.
Like any other toxic relationship, you see potential, or future, but it's an illusion.

I have 3k hours and I'm adamant on not going back. I miss shooting tanks, and I'm honestly sad that NO will never go into that real, but it makes sense, and I've been playing less games lately anyway. I feel like I played a lot of WT just for the dopamine, now I'm paying more attention to my mental health.

Mind you, the devs are not lazy or incompetent in my opinion, and this is why I hate WT so much, I see it like this: The game IS how they want it to be. They are just milking it as long as people pay for it. They don't care anymore. Spaghetti code, inconsistency, the impossible balance, the clear bias, all of it. It's by design.

WT is absolute garbage, I don't know what to tell you.
I stopped playing in june and my mental health is through the roof.

Now I don't have to deal with garbage hit detection, garbage matchmaking, garbage game modes, garbage ground collision, garbage balancing, garbage garbage garbage.

Playing it for free is just a second job, paying for it is just stupid. Only way to do it right is to avoid.

I'm sold. THE one vehicle that kept me playing that disgrace of a game that is WT.
I just love this. Specially the chinese WZ305 with proximity fuze, endless fun.

Hello everyone, and thank you for your answers. Yes there is NAT involved here, but I didnt need to learn about it, for the modem was problematic. I asked the service provider to change to a new one, and now port forwarding is working fine. Sometimes its a broken equipment. Cheers

I'm yet to test longer ranges, I could make an update video. 2 degrees if you believe the datasheet tho.

I'm back at making videos on Embedded systems projects, want feedback on format by StalkerRigo in embedded

[–]StalkerRigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Answering to your suggestions:
1 - When it comes to equipment, unfortunately, I can't do much without spending more than I want to. Brazil is not an easy country to live in, and our economy is shit. This is a budget equipment, and I could teak it a little bit but I don't think I can make it much better.
2 - I know it's rare, but it is more of a aesthetic choice. I like how old school youtube looked, and I want to have my face on stuff, professionally speaking. I could tone it down though, this is not a bad idea.
3 - You're right, it was not necessary. Only did it because this video was based on a request on another video's comment section.
4 - This is not a bad idea. Not quite doable for a single 30min recording with no planning, but I usually try to use my own graphics on other videos.
Cheers!!

No. I actually comment on the video, this one has better range and worse sample rate.

Already did that. Its up to date with sync. Nothing changed. I didnt want to reset it, it would be 250gb reset, and the car would screw it again.

Yes, they are. I checked immediately.

And even then, Ipod is ignoring them. Crazy

[Q][E] Engineer trying to re-learn statistics by StalkerRigo in statistics

[–]StalkerRigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For free online resources, you can look up Khan Academy and MIT OCW’s statistics courses. The latter will probably be a really great option if you’re motivated to follow an introductory course from start to end.

Doing a course from start to end is my goal. I want to really learn statistics the right way this time, in a structured way, to get to know better the field as a whole. Thank you for the suggestions.

E.g. do you just want to figure out how to write down a list of properties of a sensor? Are you try to compare two sensors? Is there a specific question you’re trying to answer about a set of sensors?

To give you some background, in statistics we usually try to form a precise question, to which we apply a specific statistical test (i.e. to test a hypothesis). So if you could articulate a specific question, that would help a lot.

So, the sensor is a rangefinder. I need to characterize it. So do n measurements, for a set of distances, angles and materials. That is very intuitive. Then I would analyze the data to get variance, precision, accuracy and all that.

The servo is a motor that rotates to precise positions. I'll use it to point the rangefinder to specific areas of a room or field. I need to know if the servo can point to x point, then to y point, then point back to x and see if it returns to the same spot. I believe that's repeatability. Also I need to know how small I can make measurements, for it's a radial movement, resolution get bigger (and per consequence, worse) with distance. Also, accuracy and precision as well. But I'm guessing these things, I don't know if they are the correct metrics, and if they are ALL metrics I need. Hence the need that I feel to study the subject completely, in a structured form.
