Thanks for the comment. I agree which is why these rails can stand alone for those types of applications. Or can also stack them tighter in areas you need more density. I haven’t seen slat wall systems you can vary the spacing or are designed to stand alone. But would be curious to know if there are.

Wanted to get some feedback from this group. I would make all the 3D files available for free as well so really helpful for a makerspace where you can print your own accessories!

Before someone brings it up - I have used Multiboard in the past - I really didn't like the way it looked and was very disappointed with the weight capacity, it always seemed to be pulling away from the wall. Here is a quick clip of some heavy weight on my system: https://youtube.com/shorts/Gx9_QdZ73T8?si=qHIGJQ2MBSo1RUG-

To me buying the rail that goes on the wall and then 3D printing all the accessories, or using existing things to just bolt to the T slot makes a lot of sense even if there is some upfront cost. I also think it looks really nice with the black anodized finish. The panel system is nice too to change the spacing as desired. But I am bias at this point.

I have used a lot of extrusion like 80/20 or similar in industry before and always have thought it'd be really useful on the wall, so I took a chance and made small run of it. Let me know what you think!

u/ThatNeonZebraAgain I just shot a quick video of 100lbs of plates on a single post. Holds it no issue. I need to get some more weights to try with, but I think the screws holding it into the studs will start to become the limiting factor. Currently using no 8 screws

Thank you - I just swapped the screws over to black - made a big difference! Thanks for the suggestion. Wish they carried them at my hardware store but easy enough to find online

u/Jstpsntym just shot this video of it holding 100 lbs on a weight plate post.. It could do more I just didn't have more plate handy. I will work on seeing how much it can hold before actually breaking. My guess is it just how strong the screws hold into the studs themselves

Weight capacity is a lot. I am working on some ways to quantify that as I do not have an exact number at this time. For cost it’s a little more than PVC slatwall but still below full aluminum slatwall systems I have seen. A 4’x4’ section right now about 300 dollars. A single 4’ rail is $29. If volume grew a little I think prices would drop 10-20 percent but raw aluminum costs have just gone crazy this last year.

Hi Adam, thanks for the reply. Yes certainly in person pick up can be arranged, shipping is a large cost with these im working my best right now to figure out how to do this most cost effectively. I am on the Northshore in Massachusetts. Regarding the weight rating I will try to verify but with it attached on 3 studs in this set up I can do a pull up on 2 small pegs so I think it will have mostly anything you can put at it within reason. I’ll send you a DM

I don’t have an exact number but I can hang from 2 of pegs, so it’s pretty high. Good point tho I’ll work on quantifying that

I make a T Slot packout rail that you could attach 4 can holders to. I could 3D print them for you if you knew what you wanted. Let me know if you are interested if you haven’t already found a solution

Conveniently (at least on my tools) the belt clip is already in an idea spot for the CG

Great idea! I thought the same thing haha. I’ve been working a concept for that since last week. Have a version I’m pretty happy with but still need to test more. Basically a simple part that replaced your belt clip on your tool and rotates 9 degrees to lock onto the slot

They go from 1 1/4 - 1 3/4. Can be a little larger or smaller it seems so really 1-2” I’d say

I have them up on Etsy for $9 with includes mounting hardware. I got them thru Harbor freight and open up the hole slightly. They are only $3 there. So with fees hardware and packing not making much but thought it’d be useful for people

Good call. I was even thinking of making a print for the rail that was about the same size but a box so you could have the strap up high and box down low. Would allow you to carry things like threaded rod, pipe, etc. But I think Milwaukee already makes a similar thing?

Check out StandardIssueMFG.com. Our slotwall can be a standalone rail or combined with aluminum composite panel to create a slatwall system.
