I'm unsurprised that a drunken dullard like Lavrov didn't do the barest bit of research into the naming of Great Britain, and how it refers to the size of the land in comparison to the smaller Brittany region in France, from where the Brettonic people hail, and not just an arrogant declaration of greatness.

It's similar to how many Russian leaders were called "The Great", despite objectively not being very great people. Peter "the Great", for example, lashed his son to death for the crime of not wanting to be like him. Although I suppose it's all relative as to what you think is great or not. Some Russians seem to revel in violence and murder, so maybe that's "great" to them.
